• Justin Scarboa had just about enough of his father and his rambling on about the responsibilities of being ruler of the kingdom. He had snuck out to get away from everything. He went to where his mind and heart were always at peace, the beach. But there was a little girl around his age sitting in the sand, her brown hair blowing around her hazel eyes. Justin thought she was beautiful, but his father had warned him about some woman who would only want his money. He approached her gently to make sure she wouldn't get startled.
"Hello." he said softly walking towards her.
Yvany turned her head to see a rather handsome boy around her age standing there with black hair and dark brown eyes. She smiled in response and turned her attention back to the ocean expecting him just to leave.
"I'm Justin, you are?" he asked sitting next to her.
"Yvany, I haven't seen you in the village, did you just move here or are you passing through?" she asked, her eyes still looking over the vast waters. Justin seemed to think about it for a minute before he answered.
"I'm definitely not where you're from." he grinned and Yvany suddenly felt as if she was missing an inside joke. They got into a long conversation about there personal lives. Both of them wasn't sure why but suddenly wanted to know each other more and more. It was about a week later when Justin asked Yvany to meet his father and told her what he was. Yvany was nearly hyperventilating.
"Yvany calm down, I didn't tell you sooner because I was afraid you would freak out, like you are now." Justin said pulling Yvany into his arms trying to comfort her. She pushed him away knowing it was illegal to even talk to royalty.
"Justin, I can't be friends with you, we're not from the same class,” she said trying to walk away but he held her fast.
"I wanted you to come with me so I could talk to my father about this nonsense." he said trying to gain her support. She made the mistake of looking into his eyes and her will power crushed.
"Fine." she sighed and he dragged her to a tall building with a door that was colossal. She grabbed his hand and he looked down to them. Yvany couldn't help but notice the thrill that shot through her when their hands intertwined and started to wondered if he felt it too. He did and he loved it. He led her through big double doors and down hallways that twist and turned until they stopped in front a fairly large door where they let go of each other’s hands. They walked through and when they came to a stop the king looked down to them and Yvany curtsied.
“Now whom do we have here?” he asked raising an eyebrow as he looked Yvany over.
“Father, this is Yvany, we’re the best of friends but last was almost ruined by your stupid rule.” Justin replied. Yvany looked to him with an oddly worried look.
“I see, then I’ll over look it.” his father replied simply. Justin raised his eyebrows but didn’t question. Instead he nodded and led Yvany out of the room. He took her home and when he got back his father had called him to his room to talk about something.
“Yes father?” Justin asked as he stood in front of the king.
“I was just wondering, how close are you and that little friend of yours?” he asked suspiciously.
“We’re almost inseparable.” Justin replied suddenly wanting to see Yvany again. His father grinned ear to ear.
“Then I’ll see to keeping her around for a while.” His father smiled. Justin knew there was something that he wasn’t getting but also knew that his father would give out no more yet all these questions popped into his head.
“I’ll tell you when you get older.” His father replied as if hearing his son’s thoughts. Justin nodded though that didn’t sit well with him and left the room.
