Behind the pizza front counter, a demons girl stood. She looked exactly like Ignite, but was dressed in a simple white and red dress. "Hi, Ignite! Long time no see! How's it going Big Brother?" She said, bubbly.
"Fine, Estelle," he said.
"Who's your friend?"
"This is Ember, Sis. I'm taking her around to all the demon hangouts," he answered.
"I'm Estelle," Estelle said to Ember, "and I'm Ignite's younger sister."
"It's nice to meet you, Estelle." Ember said politely.
"I don't believe that I’ve ever seen a demon like you before. What kinda demon are you?" Estelle asked.
"I'm a Fire Wolf Demon." Knowing that Ignite didn't like half-demons, Ember purposely left that out.
"Wow! I thought your kind was extinct. I think that's amazing that you've survived!" She turned back to her brother. "The usual, I presume?"
"Sure and whatever she wants too." Ignite said.
"I just want a small cheese pizza and a small Coke." Ember said.
She typed on the cash register and rang it out. "Ten dollars, then." Estelle said.
Grabbing a ten-dollar bill out of wallet, Ignite handed the money to his younger sister. He smiled. Then, the two walked back to a table and sat down.
"My sister married a human, but, by doing so, my father disowned her. Her husband, Oscar, is Italian and too human. I do love my sister, but not her choice of mates." He said, sighing.
Soon, a small cheese pizza, small meaty pizza, and two small Cokes came. He handed one of the small Cokes and the small cheese pizza to Ember. "Enjoy!" He smiled brightly.
"Thank you," Ember said shyly.
Ignite gobbled down his pizza and looked up at Ember expectantly.
Ember ate her pizza quietly, noticing how he stared at her. She was attracted to him, but she was unsure about his feelings for her. If he discovers that I'm only half a demon, what would he do? She thought. "How can you tell a half-demon from a full one?" She asked him.
"All half-demons are ugly and weak. Demons and humans are not meant to mate," he said matter-of-factly.
"But is there any differences in scent?" She questioned him.
"I suppose, but I can't differentiate between humans and demon by scent. I lack the extraordinary senses that you have."
"What would you say if I told you that I was a half-demon?"
"You're too beautiful, Ember, to be a half-demon, so I know you're not."
Ember felt relieved. At least he'll never know that I'm only a hybrid. She thought.
"Why," he continued, "would a 'half-demon' as pretty as you wanna hangout with a full-demon like me?"
"Maybe she would be so smitten with your handsomeness that she wouldn't care about blood," said Ember.
Ignite looked pleased with her response. His smile widened. Soon, he stood up and was next to her. He knelt down and captured her lips with his own. "I was smitten when I saw you outside that other pizza place. Come and meet my father and mother; they'll love you as much as I do."
"But I do have a place to stay." Ember said, nervously.
"Oh... I suppose you have someone special there too," he said, disappointed.
"No," she reassured him, "I don't have anyone special, only my mother and father..."
"That's good. But you can still come and meet my clan," said Ignite.
"Well, I guess I can..." She said, shyly.
The rest of the lunch went by fast. Soon, the two were in Ignite's black sports car bound for the outskirts of town.
