• Chapter one - Just Another Soul

She lived in a small, quiet little town, off the borders of California. She was alone, and she didn't care. No one could tell this huntress what to do.

Her long black hair was in a mess from her nights' sleep, and she did no movement to brush it out. Her violet eyes were emerald green now, with the outer border of her Iris violet. The inner border of her Pupil was violet as well. When she hunted, it changed.

She was currently sitting on a leather couch, watching the news on her flat-screen tv, eating cereal. You see, this particular huntress needed both food and blood to keep alive. She put a spoonful in her mouth as the reporter changed topics.

"Another attack has happened last night." The reporter said, face grim. "Seventeen year old Mike Livingston died of multiple lacerations to the neck. He was found on the border of California."

The huntress snorted and took another bite.

"Police Investigators have a lead." She spat out her mouthfull, picked up the remote, and turned up the volume. Never once had they known it was her.

And she thought she'd cleaned up just right.

"When they found Mike, he was concious, but not for long. They heard him mumble a short description. We now go live to the Police officer who heard it the clearest."

Aw, crap. The huntress started to clean up the mess she made, watching the screen.

"Thank you." A tall, burly guy wearing a polyester suit said. "Before the boy passed away, he muttered only what we could later identify. He talked about 'violet eyes' and 'silent as a cat.' But before anything else could be said, he passed away."

The huntress shrugged, a huge grin on her face.

Which was wiped away when she came down the stairs.

"I saw the news." The huntress' little sister said. Her arms were crossed over her chest, her foot tapping against the linonium. They were hidden in pink slippers, and she wore a pink bathrobe.

The huntress rolled her eyes heavenwards. "No one will know it was me." She said with a large grin. "My eyes are only violet when I give in to my hunting powers."

"Lillian, something is going to happen soon. This has to stop!" She walked to stand in the middle of the living room, her slender and pale hand pointing at the tv. "You see that? The kid was still concious!" Her pale blonde hair was puffed up with sleep, a pillow mark on her cheek. Her blue eyes were looking at her furiously.

Lillian shrugged. "So? We can just leave when they come too close."

And then her little sister burst.

"How can you say that?!" She screeched. "Everytime you mess up, we move! Sooner or later they will find us!"

"Let's cross that bridge when we get there. Get dressed." She ordered. "And Samantha, leave it alone for once. I don't want to use my powers on you, little sister, but if I have to, I will."

Samantha huffed, but stormed up the staircase. When it came to being obedient, she listened to her big sister, even when she didn't want to.

Maybe for once, she should have not listened to her.

When the seventeen year old Samantha got to school, she was bombarded.

Now, no one knew she was a Vampire, nor did they know her sister was. They were of one who could age, freeze their age, and choose any age they wanted to be. They had powers beyond the norm, for they were descended from the line of the most powerful Witches and Vampires. So they inherited the Vampire strength, speed, and powers, as well as Magic.

But the police were lined up along the sidewalk. And as soon as she stepped out of her yellow Mustang, they came to her.

"Can I help you?" She asked in her light and airy voice. Her blue eyes were filled with concern.

"Yes, Miss RedVine?" The one that looked like the head of the Police force asked her.

"It's Samantha Von RedFlame." She rolled her eyes. "How may I help you?"

"We need to bring you in for some questions. It will only take a couple of hours."

I told you! She screeched telepathically to her twin sister. You see what you've done?! They've probably caught on!

Her older twin took no time to answer. Just go without hesitation. Stick as close to the truth as possible without giving it away, for they'll put you on a lie detector. It's what they're doing to me. Or use some Magic to make the machine strike "true" whenever you tell a lie. She felt her mental shrug.

You owe me big time, big sister!

    Yeah, whatever. Just go.

They finished putting the lie detecting stuff on Lillian, and one of them sat in front of her. She looked directly at the Officer, while sending her Magic flowing through the machine.

"Look here, sir. I have alot to do today, so I'll cover the basics." Lillian said grimly. "I was nowhere near that area, I was in my bedroom sleeping, I have no clue as to who it may be, nor do I know the guy."

"One more question, since you answered them all." His eyes were hard, intent on her.

"How can you say you were in your bedroom when someone saw you near that forest last night?"

"For the third time, I don't know who it is. Now may I please leave?" Samantha had her cold, icy gaze at the Officer.

That's it, she thought. I'm getting out of here one way or another.

She sent out her psychic abilities to mess with the Officers' mind while she spoke.

"I am innocent, as is my sister. You will let us leave, and you will not come bother us anymore." She took her eyes away from him then, and he nodded.

"You are innocent. I will go tell the Officer to let your sister go. Thank you for your time." He said in a detached monotone. He stood up and left the small room.

"She is so going to pay." She hissed under her breath, and she left the room to await her sister at the interrogation room door.
