• "The South Gate of Lor has been overrun." The woman at the computer called as she hit some keys. The command room of the Steel Legion Battle Craft was controlled chaos as intel officers quickly updated the holoboard with the terrain and unit position. Next door was an intel officer briefing legionaries of the situation before they enter their drop pods. "When you hit the ground you'll be under fire. South Gate was just lost and if you can stop the Plague advance and have a strong push you can take it back. Sniper teams are still in the gatehouse and need support." Legionaries ran into their drop pods.
Among the legionaries was a Scrapish support gunner. Like most Scrappish, she had gray flesh with assorted metal plates and parts scattered about. Her left eye was a glass lens with a blue light shining through and a rusty breathing piece covered her mouth. She stepped into the mechanical suit's lower half and lowered the upper half over her head. The two hissed as they sealed together while she attached the arm pieces and twisted her helmet on with a click. Picking up the large Hailstorm gattling gun, Lyst Lyvian pulled the thick strap over her shoulder and held the two large handles, making sure the saftey was on. Lyst stepped into the drop pod and clipped the Hailstorm to her belt as she stepped into the harness. Soon the light shone green and the pod fell.
Lyst ran out of the pod into the street, the other legionaries spread out and took cover. They looked around for any Plague movement, but there were only the legionaries around. "They dropped us a block away from Raider movement so we can take positions. The officer legionary ran past Lyst towards a two story building with a large balcony that overlooked the main road. Other squads followed the officer to the building as Lyst's squad moved to the small bar. It had thick metal doors and small windows that made it look more like a bunker than any bar Lyst had gone to. The squad pushed the heavy wooden tables against the front door and set up positions, Lyst hooked the Hailstorm to a window.
At least fifteen Raiders appeared moving down the main road. The officer and his men fired on them and cheered as the Raiders scattered, leaving five dead behind. A screech drowned out the cheers as a Nemacyst fighter wooped over the two story building. Lyst winced as screams rang out from her headset as the men who were just straffed fell. The nemacyst circled back and was getting closer from the sounds of it. A loud woosh came from the balcony as a legionary fired an anti-air rocket that hit the Nemacyst's wing and sent it crashing into the road. The legionaries in the two story building reported that four were wounded and two legionaries were dead.
The sound of more drop pods crashed down from behind the bar and soon a second squad joined Lyst and her squadmates. The new squad leader said that after the next wave of drop pods the entire unit would make a push to the gatehouse.
Plasma hit the walls around the window; Lyst held the trigger to the Hailstorm releasing a slew of slugs into the Raiders that were climbing out of their cover. Another screech sounded as a Nemacyst swooped low over the main road. Lyst fired into the Nemacyst and it shook as the damage increased. It lifted higher towards the balcony. The room shook as an explosion went off next to the bar. The headset should have filled with screams of dying, but it was silent. The nemacyst swooped back again, but was hit by another anti-air rocket, this time from the bar. The spinning wreck hit a large apartment and created a dust cloud as the building collapsed. A large wave of Plague Raiders charged down the main road followed by Plague Crawler tank and three Boar light assualt vehicles. The last wave of drop pods fell behind the bar and the new squads ran through the door, pale. "The building next to you guys is in ruins and people are hanging from rubble like some horror movie scene." One of the new guys said out loud and started to vomit in the corner.
The calm and emotionless voice of an intel officer sounded in everyone's headsets. "All remaining squads push forward." There wasn't time to argue as the officer clicked his earpiece off. Lyst's squad leader bit his lip and nodded to everyone. "Well, we gotta die sometime." He pushed the tables aside and opened the door just in time to be ripped into red ribbons by the plasma repeaters on the Crawler and Boars. The rest of the legionaries charged into the plasma, firing assualt rifles, rockets, machine guns, pistols, throwing grenades, and drawing combat blades.
The crawler exploded from the ammount of fire focused on it, the burst of flames knocked one of the Boars over and the other slowed to a halt as the crew was killed. The Raiders charged back at the legionaries and the two groups met next to the wreck of the first Nemacyst. Lyst held the trigger to the Hailstorm down as she braced herself, it let out a hum as it cut down Raiders, she felt plasma hit her shoulder, but the adrenaline kept it from hurting. The Raiders retreated and the remaining three squads ran after them. It was suicide, but the Steel Legion was based off of the ideal of chain of command. If the officers wanted them to advance, the grunts would advance until they were dead or the mission was accomplished.
As Lyst stepped over the overturned Boar she saw intel's biggest mistake, twenty squads of Raiders led the charge, followed by five Boars, and three Crawlers. An explosion threw Lyst into a wall and she watched her squadmates fly like dolls into the air. She got up and pulled the trigger to the Hailstorm to find out that the barrels were ripped off. She dropped the useless weapon and drew her pistol as she backed into an old crater. The Raiders fired at her and she dropped to a knee as she used her last ounces of energy to pull the trigger of her pistol. She fell over and watched the drop pods fall down, releasing more and more legionaries into the battle.

After pushing the Raiders back out of Lor the legionary squads that weren't guarding The South Gate went back to bury the dead. laying in a crater was a Scrapish woman with a destroyed Hailstorm and her pistol clutched in her dead hands. The two legionaries picked up the body and carefully lowered her into a shallow grave, marking the spot only with the torn Hailstorm and her Legion tags.
