• I put my headphones in, but not turning them on. June the old hag barking orders at me. I sighed. I got the list already. It’s not like I going to forget anything. I looked at the purples, reds, blues, yellows and oranges in the rising sun. The trees below like a field of leaves instead of grass.
It was nice having the tallest tree house around for a couple miles. I mean, it’s not like you can’t see the other Giant Tall Woods from here, I could make out like, five. They stood like guardians of the forest below.
“What?” I called back into the house. “…yeah, yeah ya…yes! I’ll remember the milk! God…” I mumbled.
When is that old lady going to dye? I sighed, turning on my music. I flipped the hood of my jacket, though I don’t wear the hood a lot. Just when I’m going to jump or if it rains. I love it when the wind takes my hood back of my red, sleeved cut jacket. My blue jeans weren’t baggy, but they weren’t tight either.
My black shirt had my favorite radio station on it. 33405.657 Q rock. I took a deep breath, letting the wings in the slits on my back slowly fold out. They cracked and popped, but when they reach they’re full twenty five feet, I looked like a huge eagle.
My wings were as black as night, with a white feather through in now and again. It looked like I had the night for wings. I sometimes stoked my own wings, making sure everything was in place. Just as you would search your head for ticks.
They were soft. Nothing like under feathers of a duck, but they were soft none the less. I was going to jump, going to jump and fly to the city, but I rather ride there. Don’t get my wrong, I love flying, but I rather ride today.
I jumped, going away from the deck for a second, but then I was diving towards the green branches like a high diver to the water. Air was rushing past me, like I was on a motorcycle going down the highway.
When I was coming up on the branches, I stretched my wings over each other and as far back as I could, and I laid them across my legs. I laced my hands together, pushing them out, palms out. I crashed through the branches. I sliced through them, breaking the smaller braches.
I knew there weren’t any big branches in this section; I’ve been taking this way to the garage for years now. I past the level of the forest with all the branches, now, at fifty feet up, I spread my wings before I hit the ground, sending a trust of air to slow my landing.
I landed somewhat hard on the ground, the wind I thrust and my feet landing kicked up a lot of dust. I stood up, stretching. Alright, let’s get this done. I walked over to the huge metal, rusted doors.
I reached down, pulling the doors up. All of sudden, a cat sized spider began to craw up my leg. I laughed as it came up my arms; its hairy, red blue legs are like tiny hands they grasped so well on my arm.
“All right, down Titan.” I said.
I folded my wings back into their slits, cracking and popping just like before.
Titan isn’t really a pet so much as just some spider that crawled into the garage to seek shelter when he was little. I’ve just been taking care of him ever since.
“Hey there boy, been eating the other spiders and rodents like I told you to?”
I petted the spot just above behind his eyes and he seemed to purr, even though spiders don’t purr.
All of a sudden, I felt teeth softly scrape against my skull.
“Titan no!” I shouted, lifting him off my head.
I winced. When I held him at eye level, he had a couple hairs in his mouth, chewing away happily.
I sighed and rolled my eyes, like a puppy that just torn up the newspaper. “Gosh…why do you like eating my hair so much? It’s the shampoo, isn’t it? Well, if it smells good enough to eat, the chicks will love it right?” I asked.
Ha, as if he could answer. I sat him down softly on the ground. I walked into the garage, swiping the cob webs, curiously from Titian I would suspect, and grabbed a motorcycle helmet.
I hopped onto one of the ATVs of mine, the red one, and turned the motor on. I roared the engine, warming it up a bit. I pulled on some gloves on. They were ratty and beat up, so I cut the fingers off of them.
It made them look a little better. Not much though. I put the helmet on my head, not bothering to strap it on. I took off, heading out of there like a bat out of hell. Nice.
I ran over dried roots and vines, heading to the city. God…I love feeling the wind past me. It feels like I’m falling. Sometimes I fly so high it gets hard to breathe, than I just flood my wings, and fall.
Right out of the sky. Though I don’t do that a lot. It’s hard to do. Getting up that high I mean. Takes a lot of muscle. Ha, maybe that’s why I’m in athletic shape. Whoa!
I turned a hard left, braking. When I stopped, I was in the bath of a Jannaxius. Or Jinx. If I remember, it’s a relative of the Erketu ellisoni that was found as on a fossil on some little blue planet.
I was speechless at the huge animal. I looked up, but only able to see its legs and the top of it’s back. Not it’s huge neck it’s famous for. I was bummed, but then again, June never said come back quickly.
I parked the ATV close to a tree, taking my helmet off, spreading my wings, and flying up to the huge animal. I had to go up to the level of the forest with all the branches, closes my wings and climb.
As I climbed, sweat beads began to form on my head. Green goop that I stuck my hand in was stick, but I ignored that. I saw a couple bird and monkeys, yelling at me but stayed clear.
When I popped my head to the top of the tree, my tiny green eyes were looking strait into huge, brown; 52” TV sized brown eye. It nostrils, between its eyes, were lined with purple rough leather skin. Its massive teeth were chewing on a branch. Not leaves, but a huge branch!
It snorted, blowing my jet black hair back. I laughed. They’re known for they’re gentleness.
I got my feet up and spared my wings once more. I flew up to the top of the giant animal’s head, lying down. It stop for a second, looking up at me. Since I could see its eyes, I looked back at it.
“I’m just along for the ride!” I called.
I heard these guys were smart. Well, smart for a giant dinosaur.
It seamed to close its eyes and ignored me, going back to eating.
