I sat up disoriented and confused. "Adrenalyn?" asked my dad.
"Wait a minute and i'll let you know." i replied.
"How are you?"
"I'm just in agonizing pain."
"I tried to dull it, but i needed the help from uh........"
"From who?" i stood up ignoring the thing swishing around behind me.
"No one."
"Have you not learned that keeping information from me is a very bad idea?" i hissed, and when i say hissed i mean hissed. Like a cat, but i couldn't worry about that now.
"From my wife." he choked out the last word.
I ran up to him, grabbed his throat, and snarled, "I am going to crush your wind pipe and watch the air exit your lungs and you will die if you don't tell me who she is."
Then a calm female voice from behind me said, "Adrenalyn, i have heard many things from you. I hope i can be a good step-mother."
I turned around to see a woman that was beautiful probably to everyone who saw her. I dropped my father. "And you are?" i snarled at her.
"Your father's wife."
"Meaning my step-mother."
"Yes,"
"Have you ever heard one fairy tale with a step-mother? They're not nice."
"But they're fairy tales." she laughed as my dad went to her and wrapped an arm around her waist.
"I'm going home." i growled. Then i marched away form them.
"Adrenalyn! It's not safe."
I swerved around a laughed in his face. "You're kidding."
"No,"
"Before you marched your way into my life everything was perfect! And now i might as well throw myself off a cliff! Or, maybe, i'll get lucky and a huge Semi truck will crush me. Imagine that. My blood squishing its way around my bones finally free form my veins." his face went green. I glared at his wife then at him. "Look at this!" i lifted my new tail from where it was swishing its way around my legs. "Can you finally be proud of me?! Or do i have to be a full shape shifter? I'm never going to be good enough!
"Mom still cries because you're gone!" i informed him. "Whose ashes are in that jug over our fire place? Cause they're certainly not yours!"
Then i turned once again and marched away form them.
When i entered the house there was Neklikei in the middle of my kitchen. His eyes looked as if they were going to fall out they were so wide.
"Yeah, i'm half one." i snapped. Then i had an idea. "Tell me how to get rid of them." i begged.
"Well," he started. "Just relax."
I did as i was told and focused on them gone and soon they were.
"I kind of miss them." said my father's voice from behind me.
I spun around. "I'm so gonna punch you to next Tuesday." i threatened.
"You won't." said my new step-mom.
I smiled evilly, went to the fire place, got the jar of my father's ashes, and poured them out over the floor. He watched in horror as i stomped on them.
And to make this scene my mom walked through the back door. "Adrenalyn!" she shrieked then froze as she saw my dad. She walked as if in a trance to him, felt his face, and then flung her frail body into his arms. "How are you alive?" she sobbed.
My dad just backed up out of her arms and went to my step-mom. "I married again."
Mom practically screamed in pain as her heart broke. I could almost hear it break and it killed me.
I stared into my father's eyes and said, "You don't belong here."
"Neither do you." he retorted.
"Go back to the hell hole from which you came." i yelled. The last thing i remember is my mom screaming as his arms came up and hit my face. Everything went black as i fell.
I woke up on the floor in a puddle of my own blood. I stood up and saw everyone around me. I stood, put a hand to the cut on my face. Blood was still gushing like the Niagara Falls but i was fine.
"That all you can do?" i asked.
My dad just grabbed his wife and left. Just as they got to the door he said, "Just wait, you need flesh to live. I still be here to help you. Son! Come!" he said.
"Where's your son?" i scoffed.
"Here." said Naklikei.
Then i realized where i remembered his wife's face. She was the mother of the family i had practically lived with.
My tail and ears popped their way out of my body as i lost control of my emotions. Then i felt fur spread across my body. I passed out. The last thing i saw was my father leaving.
