• Tyler Wood's Journal Entry #9
    March 19, 2010

tab I already knew there was something wrong with me. Something...different than usual. But, hey, at that time, I didn't care. Heck, being "wrong" felt good.
tab That's what I thought at that time. But I could tell Mr. Woods thought otherwise as I loudly swung the door open, throwing my backpack down with just as much noise. I had to let my anger out on something.
tab "Well, look who decided to step in," Mr. Woods said, staring at the TV blankly without acknowledging my being. As I got closer, he finally turned around, raising his eyebrows when he saw my face. My cold, uncaring, stern face.
tab "Looks like someone's been having a dandy day, huh?" He chuckled at his little joke. A hard, serious face cut his checkling off, as he went on with a more solemn face,
tab "What wrong? Something happen at school?" I could only imagine my face. Skewed, whiney, like a toddler when he wanted something he wasn't getting.
tab "Shut up." I stared up at the TV, squinting my eyes to make sure I was seeing this clearly.
tab ...Did we ever think we were going to fly? Did we ever think we could make an automobile go up to speeds over ten times faster than any human could run?
tab "Isn't this a rerun?" Mr. Woods looked back at the TV, and replied simply,
tab "Yes. Well...no. I recorded it."
tab "Recorded it? ...Why would you record this?"
tab "This...it's very important to me."
    tab "It's stupid. It's about..."
tab Yes, only because great minds that were courageous enough to try it.
    tab "It's about..."
tab Mark my words robots will be born, and the birth will take place sooner than you think.
tab "Robots..." The word came out as a soft breath, barely escaping my mouth. That voice...I heard it before.
tab The voice from that "dream". That "nightmare".
tab The world just began spinning out control, but in the midst of all this chaos, all the puzzles fit neatly together.
    tab A robot...
    tab I was a...
    tab No...
    tab Impossible.
tab I twirled around, and charged upstairs, storming up into my room. I thrashed myself on the bed, and buried my head in my pillow.
    tab No...No, no, no!
tab I felt something rub against my cheeks. Something wet, damp...
tab I was crying. For the first time, crying.
tab The door, abruptly, was crashed open, and Mr. Woods burst into the room.
tab "Tyler..." he uttered. I looked at him, my eyes red with still pouring out tears. He was just standing there, a look of shock planted on his face. What was he thinking at that moment? What was going on in his head?
tab "Tell me..." I began, bits of sniffles finding their way into my words. "Who am I?" For a couple seconds, Mr. Woods didn't answer. He continued to stand there, looking through me with a vacant stare. Then,
tab "Tyler...He didn't tell you already...did he?" It was my turn to be shocked. What did he know about me?
tab "Who? Who are you talking about?" Slowly, he began walking towards, and just as slowly, he sat down next to me on my bed. He placed his hands on his lap, thinking hard about what he should say next. Then, his sympathetic face abruptly changed into a face of sadness and sorrow as he bent over and picked up something from the ground.
tab The teddy bear I picked up myself only a couple days earlier.
:rab:"This..." he said slowly, sounding very tired all of a sudden. "This was his." He turned back to me, and said with that same expression on his face,
tab "I think you deserve an explanation, Tyler."
