• The sound of birds outside the window invaded Luna's head as she unwillingly woke up. She groaned and turned over. The birds woke her up every morning at freaking 4 in the morning. She groaned again and put her pillow over her head. The bird's infernal singing still came through crystal-clear. She flung the pillow onto the floor and threw back the sheets. She got up and went to the window. She quietly opened the window and grabbed her BB gun that she kept by her window for exactly this purpose. She took aim and fired. The poor bird didn't have time to yelp. It fell with a soft plop in the soft snow below. Luna shut her window and went back to sleep. The next thing she heard was her Mom trying to wake her up.
"Luna, wake up! It's already 7:45, you're-" Luna sat bolt upright. She flung the blankets off her onto the floor and dashed over to her wardrobe.
"I'M GONNA BE LATE!" She grabbed her school uniform and tried to take off her pajamas and put on her uniform at the same time. "Ow. Mom, I need some help here!" Her mother sighed and pulled the pajama top out from the neck of the uniform.
"I can drive you to school, you know." Luna stopped in her tracks. She whirled around.
"No, I didn't. Why don't you tell me these things BEFORE I start rushing around?"
"Because it's fun watching you think you're going to be late."
    "Moooom." Her mom laughed.
"I'm sorry, I don't mean to be a mean mom sometimes. Anyway, hurry up. I can't wait forever for you, I have a customer coming at 8:30." Luna ran a brush through her long black hair, trying to make it look decent.
"Yes, Mom." Her mom left the room. Luna brushed her hair and put it up in a ponytail. A knock on her window made her jump. She slowly turned around, wondering if perhaps the very big mother of the bird she had shot earlier had come back for revenge. Luna sighed with relief. It was just her best friend, Arthur. He opened the window.
"The birds woke you up again, I see."
"Hpmh. They should know better by now. Serves them right."
"Hey, Luna. My mom's waiting for me, so if you want a ride, I can ask real quick." Luna smiled.
"Thanks, my mom has a customer coming at 8:30, so I don't want her business to suffer for a kid."
" 'Kay, I'll be right back." Luna went to the window and shouted after him,
"You're blushing so much you'll melt the snow!" She heard his sarcastic laugh. She shut her window and went downstairs. She bumped into her little brother on the way down, knocking him down the stairs.
"John! What happened? He's bleeding!" Luna heard her mom freak out downstairs and she wondered if she had killed him.
    "Mom, how bad is it?"
"We have to take him to the hospital, he hit his head and that's what's bleeding." Luna rushed to the phone and called 911. While she was on the phone, she noticed that a boy was standing on the stairs, half hidden in shadow.
"911, what's your emergency?" Luna diverted her attention back to the phone.
"My brother fell down the stairs and he hit his head on the way down. He's bleeding pretty badly. Can you send an ambulance over?"
"What's your address?" Luna recited the address and after the operator told her the ambulance would be there in a minute or two, she hung up. She saw something move out of the corner of her eye. The boy had turned around and had started walking up the stairs. Luna followed, despite her mother's queries about where she was going. She saw the boy turn towards her room. She turned and saw something that stopped her dead in her tracks. She was in her room. She was in her bed, sleeping. Luna shook her head and looked at her arms. They were there, so why was she in bed asleep? She jumped as someone screamed. The other her was sitting bolt upright in bed, breathing hard. Luna watched as the other her sat up. She gasped as she saw what was on the girl's pajamas.
"Blood..." Luna said, half revolted. The girl walked over to the mirror and gasped.
"WHAT DID YOU DO NOW?!" The girl screeched at her reflection. She grabbed a baseball bat that was in the corner and faced the mirror again.
"WHAT DID YOU DO?!" The girl swung the bat into the mirror. "STOP IT, STOP IT, STOP IT!!!!" Luna ducked as glass shards flew towards her. She heard the girl stop and gasp for air. They both screamed as a knocking sound filled the room. The other her went over to her door, but not after walking through Luna. Luna sat there, stunned, as something burst through the door and grabbed the other her. Luna didn't listen as thoughts whirled through her head.
'She walked through me. Am I not real, or is she?' She felt the other her walk through her again. Luna watched the other her walk past the bed and say 'Shut up' to no one. Luna stood up and tried to open the door. Her hand went right through the doorknob. The other her opened the door and walked across the hall. Luna was a bit scared to go out of the comfort of her mildly-familiar room. She cautiously took a step forward, and jumped as another scream ripped through the air.
