• A young boy awoke and heard great amounts of yelling outside. He got up from his bed and headed towards the small, covered window. He pulled a piece of the cloth and could see the moonlight flowing down into the room and onto the wooden floor. He could see the men out there on horses, waiting for something.
"Get away from there." said his mother as she pulled him away. "Now Jared. You and your sister are to go with Abby. I need you to get dressed and quickly come with me." She walked out of the room.
He started to put on his clothes and his coat and boots. He quickly took his red handkerchief and packed up a whistle, some bread and cheese, a couple of books, and a small vile of medicine. He tied it up and walked out of his room.
"Come with me son." said his mother as she grabbed his hand and led him into Alice's room. She pushed the small rug away from the floor and soon pulled the small latch up from the floor. "Get inside Jared." said his mother as she pulled him over to the open hole. Inside was Abby and Alice and a few other items covering the floor.
    "Aaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!!!!" screamed a man's voice.
    "Father!" yelled out Jared.
"I'm sorry my children." said his mother as she pushed Jared into the hole and closed the latch. She quickly covered it up and kept her composure.
"Mommy," whispered Alice, before Abby covered both of there mouths. It was quite, before the silence was broken by a short scream and it died away with everything they knew.
"Brother, Oh, brother. Brother! Wake up!" yelled out a young girl who stood by the boys bed. She was about twelve years old, very small, and petite. She had beautiful platinum blonde hair and pretty bright blue eyes. She wore a dark red dress and a black bow in her hair.
"What? Oh, go away." replied the boy as he waved his hand at her.
    "Jared! Wake up!"
"What?" said Jared before falling off his bed.
The room was filled with darkness. The wall's were made from cold stone, and the floor was made from cement. Even the town seemed to be dark and gloomy, no brightness, and no sunshine.
"You promised to take me somewhere today." said his little sister with a cross look on her face.
    "Oh, Ya I did. Didn't I Alice?"
"Yes brother." she said with a tired look on her face.
"All right, since you seem so eager. I guess we can go right now."
    "Yay,"
"But, you need to wait until they call us for our morning exercises. All right?"
"All right." said Alice with a smile on her sweet little innocent face. Alice walked out of the room and headed down stairs with the rest of the girl's her age.
The orphanage that they were instituted in was strict and harsh, unlike the rest of the town. She stood up straight as she walked into the dining hall in the large line of girls. She sat down on a chair and started eating her meal with a small stuffed bear hanging out of her pocket. She finished her meal in a flash and stood up sweetly and curtsied towards the head mistress.
"Already finished with your meal? Hm, you may go if you please." said the head mistress with a flick of her wrist.
Alice walked quickly out of the dining hall and quickly ran outside. She walked over to the large oak tree that scourged over the orphanage metal gates, and sitting on one of the branches was a boy. He looked to be almost sixteen and handsome. His brown hair was untamed and his brownish-red eyes looked like he was ready for some mischief. He wore a pair of trousers and a loose shirt with a vest over it.
"Jared!" called out Alice as she ran to her brother.
"Hey little sis. Are you ready to go?"
    "Yes, I'm ready."
"All righty then. We don't have much time." said Jared as he looked up at the tree. "Come on sis. Let's get climbing."

It didn't take as long as Jared thought to get over to the other side with Alice.
"Come on Alice. Just let go and I'll catch you." said Jared as he helled out his hands to catch her. She let go of the branch and came falling down into her brother's arms.
"Thanks," said Alice as her feet touched solid ground. "All right. So, Where are we going?"
"This way." said Jared as he started to run towards the outskirts of town.
They passed shops, filled with goods that Alice never dreamed of and in a little while were soon out of town and standing in front of an old building covered in tree's and plants.
"Come on sis." said Jared as he showed her a hole in the wall. They stepped inside and soon Alice saw the entire floor covered in books.
"Huh, what is this place?" asked Alice as she soon became entranced in the land of paper.
"It's the town's old abandoned library. I found it and I thought that you might like to play here today." said Jared as he kicked one of the books.
"Thank you." cried out Alice as she flung her arms around his waist and gave him a small squeeze. She quickly let go of him and soon started to read the books that covered the ground.
Time passed by and it soon became time for them to head back.
"Sis, I want to talk to you about something." said Jared as he found her sitting on a small pile of books.
    Alice said nothing.
"Alice, I'm going to be sixteen soon." said Jared before Alice stood up and started towards a bookcase. "Alice, please. We need to discuss this."
Alice looked at the shelved books and pulled one out.
"I'm soon going to be too old for the orphanage and they will send me away to become an apprentice."
Alice studied the book and was about to put it back when she saw a book that was pressed against the back of the shelf.
"We'll need to figure out a system so that no one will adopt you." said Jared as Alice shoved her hand into the back of the shelf. "Are you even listening to me?"
Alice pulled out an old purple leathered book from the shelf and studied it. It was different from the other books and it felt strange in her hand.
"Why do I even try to keep you safe, when you don't even care."
"Brother, look at this book." said Alice as she held it up to him. He looked at it closely and soon noticed the symbol burned into the leather. "This is...strange."
"I know, isn't it?" said Alice as she took it from him and opened the leather belt.
"What are you doing?" said Jared as he began to panic. "That thing could be booby trapped for all we know."
"I think it's okay." said Alice as she flipped the pages. "Oh, I think this might be a diary."
"Let me see that." said Jared as he took it from Alice. Jared started to read the book out loud.

    "Entry 1.

Today I have finished helping the king to unite the people and rid the lands of the Demon's. But I fear that the power of the pure hearts won't be enough. Me and my apprentice Dade shall take the purest of heart and shall give them the powers of the world.

    Entry 2.

Today I have created them, with the help of my apprentice. The weapons that can harness the great elements. Unfortunately I have misunderstood a small piece of information. In order to create weapons of good, to level it out, one must also create something of evil. I have found this out to be the case. But fortunately I will be able to seal it away from the world.

    Entry 3.

I have underestimated my apprentice. She has gone against me and has taken the evil weapon. She will kill and destroy anyone who gets in her way. Luckily before my final hour, I will be able to send this book with one of the weapons far away. The rest of them, must be hidden away within there own elements. Each one has a special talent that is given to them by this book. I leave the fate of the world to the future generations."

Jared stopped reading the book. He looked up at his sister with a confused look on his face.
"Is that it?" asked Alice as she looked at Jared.
"Yep, looks like it. All that's left are blank pages." Jared looked back down at the book and smirked at it. "What a lot of hog wash." said Jared as he flung the book behind him. The book fell onto a pile of books. "Let's go back." said Jared as he walked towards the library entrance.
Suddenly, a noise of paper being turned could be heard, coming from the book. They turned and looked down at the book. It's pages were turning violently and soon stopped at a blank page. A flash of white light, washed the walls and books away from sight. Alice fell down onto the floor and soon was swallowed into the light. Jared kept his eye on the book, which was now floating in the air. A small piece of light came out of it and soon faded into a deep red colored pearl. The white light as well turned into the rich red color and surrounded him. Jared's eyes were transfixed on the pearl. Before he was aware of it he already was reaching out to grab it and soon was too late to stop himself. He touched it and it reacted to his touch. It dove into his chest and he could feel a burning sensation running through his vein’s, before finally blacking out.
