He was supposedly brilliant, this scientist. He bragged he could change the world, and even boldly ventured to say he could change the future. People as people go, wanted to believe him.
Not in the probability that his plan worked, but in the fake dreams he painted in their minds. They wanted to live. He had the perfect plan to connect that.
His invention brought together worlds. Not as in different continents, but as in the planets from outer space. Mercury, Venus, Mars, etc.
In one fatal click of his deathly machine, and the universe contracted toward planet earth.
He hurried to shut off the contraption, but it was too fast. Once it shut down, all the planets, once peacefully at orbit, now hung in the atmosphere, only a 30Th of their original size.
The machine shrunk and lured the planets in. The sun now closer, but incredibly smaller then ever.
All the planets in the solar system hung in a delicate balance, before all could crush the earth.
And as the scientist gazed up in awe at the apocalypse he so willingly created, no one would have thought.
No one might have known.
But, as the temperature of the earth floated up, a tiny organism of life twitched.
And so, a new race awakened.
