• *~*~*

“Oh. My. Gosh. Would you look at that. Would you just look at that! Are you happy you two are done, Hec?” Giana said through a stunned expression. It was lunch time, and she was staring at Greg and Skyella, who were, instead of eating lunch, making out at Greg’s table. His friends sitting with them looked pretty pissed off that their friend was not able to chat because of his new girlfriend.
“Don’t even talk to me about Skyella, please.” Hec responded, annoyed.
“But seriously! That’s just wrong. Wrong and mean. I mean, you two just broke up! You don’t publicly announce you have a new boyfriend right after a breakup with your old one! But I guess they were already going out while she was still with you, so maybe it’s not that bad. But it’s still mean. See Hec? That’s why we never liked her. There was something very wrong with her.” Giana exclaimed.
“Yeah, I guess.” Hec said, sounding very annoyed. Suddenly, Kyle Devons walked over to our table. He was the guy who Giana had a major crush on since sixth grade. He was 6’2, had dark brown hair, blue eyes, and a killer smile. He placed his hands on the table, and leaned on it that way.
“Hey, Giana.” He said, smiling at her. Giana blushed bright red.
    “Hey…Kyle.” She responded.
“So, you wanna catch a movie tonight?” he questioned.
“Sure!” She replied, trying to hide her excitement, but not doing so quite well.
“Alright. I’ll call you.” He smiled and walked away. Giana turned to me.
“He already has your number?” I asked. Giana nodded eagerly.
    “From Greg’s party!” she cried.
“And you never told me why?”
“Because you were still getting over that Collin guy.”
“Ugh. Don’t even mention his name please.”
“Okay, okay! But I am SO completely excited!”
“Yay.” I said with no enthusiasm.
“Oh come on! Aren’t you happy for me?”
“Oh yes, I am. It’s just that you brought up him. So now I’m all depressed.”
“Forget him! Okay so you have to come over after school and help me get ready.”
“Will do.” I said. We finished our lunches and the three of us headed to fifth period, Giana rambling on about what she might wear on her first date with Kyle, Hector mumbling rude things about Skyella, and me still trying to forget about Collin.

Tyler came up to me while I was at my locker after sixth period. I was grabbing my English and history binders from my locker when he stated,
“Look, Zi, I’m sorry about what happened this morning. I know you don’t like to talk about our parents.” I had turned to face him with a sour look.
“What do you want? There’s no way you can be apologizing just because you feel bad.”
“I don’t want anything. I really do feel bad. C’mon sis! We’ve been through this before.”
“And we will go through it in the future, and that’s why I’m not forgiving you.” I walked away from him and found Giana and Hector in a heated argument.
“I don’t get it Hector! I can date whoever I want! You’re not my parents, so deal with it!” Giana shouted in his face.
“I’m just trying to say, Giana, Kyle is bad news! Just please don’t go with him tonight. I swear something will go wrong.”
“How would you know if he’s bad news or not? Huh? It’s not like you ever got to know him well! Oh yeah, that’s right, you two were worst enemies in seventh grade. Just because he threw orange juice all over your favorite t-shirt doesn’t mean he’s all bad! In fact, I think he’s changed!”
“Really? You think I think he’s bad because of seventh grade? No, G. Listen to me! He’s got a bad record. Not police wise, but like dating wise. You know that, G. You know he’s a player, and yet you still want to go out with him. I’m the one who doesn’t get it. And we…” Hector paused to grab me by my arm. “know that he’s bad and we don’t want you to get hurt. Right, Zi?”
“Do you guys have to put me in the middle of everything? I mean seriously, in just one day, you’ve put me through your Skyella thing, and now this. Give me a break!” I complained.
“Right, Ziana?” Hector wanted to know. I groaned.
“Right. G, we don’t want you to get hurt by him. It’s for the best.”
“But you were happy for me at lunch!” she insisted.
“Yeah, but I was only pretending to be happy so I wouldn’t burst you’re bubble at the moment. Sorry, G, but I’m being honest here.”
“I don’t care. I’m going anyways. And neither of you, or my parents, or ANYBODY is going to tell me what to do! Gosh, all of you are so pathetic!” she shouted. She stormed away from us in dramatic flinging of her hair. I turned to face Hector.
    “Well, we tried, Hec.”
    “Yeah.”
“Why do you care about who she dates so much anyways?” I asked. Hector didn’t answer me. He just stared after Giana.
“Oh no…you don’t…you don’t like her? Do you?” I questioned in astonishment.
“I have to go.” He said quietly. And then I was by myself, surrounded by the other kids in our grade.

I waited for Giana and Hector after school. They didn’t come. Giana was probably still mad at me and Hector for us caring about her welfare earlier. She probably thought that Hector and I would be waiting for her so we could all walk home together. She wanted to ditch us, for payback, even though we didn’t do anything. Little did she know that Hector wasn’t going to walk home with me either, to avoid any other conversations about him liking Giana. So I started walking home myself. That’s when I saw Tyler and his three amigos walking home in front of me. I didn’t want any of them to see me, so I hid behind a nearby bush. When they disappeared over the hill, I came out from behind the bush and brushed off the dirt and leaves from my clothes. Suddenly, a hand rested on my shoulder. I jumped and turned around. Oh. My. Gosh. Who I saw, well, I hated. Who I saw made me almost punch him in the stomach. Oh yes, I can think meanly when I want to. Because who I saw, was the guy who made my mom kill herself. Dad.
