• As day turns to night and the stars begin to shine my eyelids, already drooping from lack of sleep begin to close. Slowly I begin to shut down, dreaming of happy thoughts as I set my alarms for an early morning wake up call.

The people next door talk loudly as others try to sleep and the streamers hanging decoratively on the door rustle constantly in the blowing wind which teases my senses with promise of rain. Sleep does not come.

I wait quietly in the dark for the sandman to blow some sleep my way, laying on my back as countless sheep jump overhead. Insomnia has struck me. Hard and high, quick and low. I battle it with every trick I know, but for each trick I have insomnia has two.

Please, I surrender, I cry into the dawning light. As the sun rises my eyelids finally begin to close…RING RING the phone rings….CLANG CLANG and the alarm clock begins to blare its early morning song. And so begins another day, just one more like all the rest.

    Insomnia has won again.
