• Dr. Doc's Journal Entry #15
    March 8, 2010

tab "What are you doing?" I found Mr. Powers, the next day, in the room I had made my replicas of Jenna and Tyler. He was kneeled down next to them, tinkering with them, making little adjustments here and there, and adding skin to make them appear more...human.
tab "I'm...fixing your robots." I snorted.
tab "Why don't you just destroy them? Why don't you just destroy all of us? Your plan has backfired, so right now, the smartest thing to do would be to just stop before it gets any worse."
tab "I don't expect you to understand," he said, "but I've worked far too hard to just quit now. You three may not serve the purpose you were intended for, but you need to serve some purpose." He stood up, turned to face my eyes, and went on,
tab "After I finish these two, I'm sending you back to your rightful owner." That got my attention.
tab "And who exactly is that?" There was a small moment of silence, and then Mr. Powers said solemnly,
tab "Mr. Woods." Woods....I had heard that name before. Then I remembered.
tab "Mr. Woods? Isn't that the father of Jenna and Tyler?"
tab "Yes. As well as you. At least, your true, human form."
tab "Whatever happened to Justin, anyway?" I inquired. I was beginning to, slowly, piece things together. Whether that was a good thing or bad thing, I'm not sure.
tab "Justin..." Mr. Powers moaned tiredly under his breath. His usual hard eyes lifted into a soft, sympathetic, as he began to retell the story. "Justin escaped promptly after I finished making you."
tab "Sounds like he got off a little more lucky than Tyler, huh?" I snapped bitterly. I saw Mr. Powers cringe. Good. It was the kind of reaction I wanted.
tab "So, I'm guessing it took you years to finish him, right? Why didn't he run away before you finished him?"
tab "Fear. Fear is the motivation that drives everyone."
tab "And I suppose he just happened to regain his courage and get up and run when you finished creating me?"
tab "You can't expect me to have all the answers, #1." I growled.
tab "Don't call me that. I am...I am...Doc. Dr. Doc." Mr. Powers chuckled.
tab "Cute. And I suppose tomorrow you're going to stop Dr. Evil from unleashing total destruction on the world. Perhaps, I'd dare say, this Dr. Evil is me." I had to bear my teeth to keep myself from saying anything. He stopped chuckling, and said with a sterner look,
tab "I'm sorry. That was a bit harsh." I wasn't sure if he even knew the meaning of that word.
tab "No more harsh than anything else you've done to us," I hissed.
tab "If you haven't noticed, I'm trying to make things right here. I turned down a rather generous offer yesterday. And today, I'm sending you and Tyler off to Mr. Woods." I was taken back by this statement.
tab "Tyler and I? What about Jenna?"
tab "Jenna's...staying with me. It might not mean much, but I need to make amends to her, for all the wrongs I've done. Even if the person I'm really making amends to just looks like her, and isn't even real, it will help me go to sleep at night."
tab "So then what are you going to tell Mr. Woods then, huh?"
tab "The truth. He is my friend, after all. He'll...understand."
tab "Was your friend, that is, until you kidnapped his children and then murdered one of them."
tab "I didn't kidnap his children. I took them with his consent. He knew all the risks from the beginning."
tab "So you're saying he was in on the whole thing?" I asked, puzzled. Mr. Powers nodded.
tab "Then what about what Tyler said? He said that Mr. Woods fought you off...Why would he do that if he had already struck a deal with you?"
tab "Tyler was mistaken. Mr. Woods never fought me." Was Mr. Powers lying? Or did Tyler really remember something wrong? I would prefer to think the former, because I never wanted to take anything Mr. Powers said over anything Tyler said, but considering the way things have been turning out lately, you could never be too sure of anything.
