• The Adventures of
    Xianghua and Kilik. 01/09/10

    Part one

    Ch1 Ambush

As Xianghua stepped outside her uncle’s home, she was greeted by ninjas. The night had fallen and the moon was revealed through the misty clouds. She readied her trusty ‘nameless sword’ and prepared for the encounter. Then out of nowhere a thick roped net was set upon Xianghua. This was the trap and she fell for it.
Poor Xianghua struggled. She was about to call for help when one of the ninjas blew a sleeping dart right into Xianghua’s neck; this making her pass out. Her uncle slipped into his bed without a worry.

The ninja’s carried Xianghua at the back of a carriage. She was tied so tight that even her slim and beautiful body could not manage to escape it. Soon Xianghua regain consciousness. “Where am I?” she cried silently, “Who has done this to me? When I find out whose responsible for this I’ll slay them.” Xianghua’s fist grew into a flower of vengeance.
As she regained more consciousness, Xianghua felt sick by the minute. The movement of the carriage was unstable; it made Xianghua roll back and forth. This was not good. From all that irregular movement, it would make her sick.
Suddenly the carriage stopped. Xianghua could hear a faintly familiar voice. The voice was male, kind and heroic. Xianghua pressed her pale and tender ears where the voice was coming from. And so she heard this,
“Give me back Xianghua or you’ll regret it dear fellows.”
“Who do you think you are young insolent fool?”
Xianghua waited impatiently for the voice’s introduction.
“I am Kilik…now give me back what is mine.”

Out of excitement Xianghua smiled sickly. “Help, help Kilik.” She could barely utter those words. Her voice was so soft and quiet, that even Xianghua began to doubt the miracle she encountered.
Fortunately Kilik heard Xianghua. As a result he quickly rushed to the back of the carriage. But before he could do that, the ninjas surrounded every possible path he could take.
“Oh? You want to play with Kilik do you?” Another voice entered the scene. “Don’t leave me out. I want to join in the fun too.”
“Yun-seong!” Kilik called out in surprise. This made Yun-seong bow, which made him narrowly miss a horizontal slash from behind. Kilik was left speechless by what he saw, but decided not to tell him.
“Ready when you are Kilik old friend.”
On the count of three Kilik and Yun-seong began to fight off the ninjas.
    “1…2…3…FIGHT!”

    Ch2 rescue

“Damn, I way too good huh?” said Yun-seong with a smug tone of voice.
“Now don’t get cocky,” said Kilik holistically.
The ninja’s were backing off slowly, but Yun-seong felt as if he needed to kill them off too. As soon as Yun-seong went after the remaining five ninja’s, Kilik held him tight around the collar.
“Watch this and you’ll learn.” Kilik said as he was readying into a magical stance.
Kilik gave a loud lion’s roar and went after the remaining ninjas. He swung his red shimmering rod in a full 360 degree angle. This then made the ninjas fly and disappear into the crystal blue sky.
“And that is my trick,” Kilik winked cheekily at Yun-seong.
Yun-seong not knowing what Kilik meant by that wink, also winked at him. Kilik thought that Yun-seong was giving him an O.K. message. So both of them spent two minutes standing next to each other winking.
Xianghua broke into a child’s cry. Ruining the joyful winking-festival that Kilik and Yun-seong were attending.
“Xianghua!” Both said Xianghua’s name at the same time…it is, dare I say, like their thoughts are one. They hurried over to Xianghua.

“Untie me please,” Xianghua cried. She did not cry because she was saved, but because she was feeling sick.
Then the rope that was around Xianghua lost its grip onto her body and fell next to her. Slowly her feminine body was revealed to the eyes of Kilik and Yun-seong. Both blushed as bright as a flame.
Xianghua looked at the two young men and let out a giggle. “You two are blushing…are you in love with each other?” Of course Xianghua knew that they were not in love with each other. But thought that was a funny thought to share with them.
As Xianghua got up she noticed that a small pool of blood had formed underneath her shadow. Her eyes grew more and more eager to hide it.
So Xianghua shoved Kilik and Yun-seong off the carriage. They wondered why Xianghua had done this. Then Kilik, her brother, told Yun-seong that it was that time of the month.
“That time of the month?” Yun-seong repeated loudly.

Kilik covered one finger over his lips; indicating that Yun-seong should be quiet. “Sorry Kilik,” whispered Yun-seong.
“Just listen Yun-seong,” began Kilik, “many women go through some sort of ‘thing’ when it’s that time of the month. All I know is that it apparently makes the woman weak and feel sick, therefore cannot fight or do anything for a whole day.”
“They can’t even eat food?” Asked Yun-seong naively.
“No, they can’t force themselves to do labour intensive work.”
As soon as Yun-seong understood this, he went inside the carriage. Twilight had come and the clouds were covered in matt pink. Yun-seong carried Xianghua into his arms, she was asleep. Kilik went inside to see if there were any signs of the thing they call ‘that-time-of-the-month’.
As soon as he found nothing, Kilik and Yun-seong headed towards the nearest healer’s house.

Ch3 “That time of the month?”

It was a long and hot walk, but eventually they managed to get to a healer’s house. Yun-seong was getting tired of carrying Xianghua. His arms and legs were becoming hot with pain. Yun-seong let out a loud groan. As soon as this reached Kilik’s ears he offered to help Yun-seong. But Yun-seong pushed Kilik’s offer aside and said, “Lets rest for a while. Xianghua is not easy to carry.” Yun-seong realising what he had said let out a strange laugh. This made Kilik shrug. So they rested for a while.
Whilst the three were resting the sun had made its mark upon the electric blue sky. Xianghua was still unconscious, yet her frail arms were still around Yun-seong’s masculine chest. Yun-seong sat down on the sandy ground whilst making sure Xianghua was locked onto his back. Kilik watched in uncertainty.

The sun’s rays were so bright that it made the earth beneath their feet get feverishly hot. Kilik and Yun-seong, although they wore kung-fu shoes, felt the heat of the ground; it was as if they were bare footed in the first place. Afterwards Yun-seong stood up with false strength and said, “Kilik lets go to the healer’s house before our feet fry underneath the sun.” Without hesitation Kilik nodded his head, which exposed the crystal-like sweat that had formed underneath his neck.
Yun-seong and Kilik were feeling hot and were thirsty. The sun’s heat had dried up most of their saliva. Their throats were dry. Miraculously the healer’s house was right in front of them. They would have jumped for joy, but they did not have the voice for celebration.

When Kilik knocked on the red oaked door, a small smiley old lady appeared. She coordinated her self with her cane. At first the old lady squinted to see the faces. But then realised that she had a pair of glasses hanging from her chest. As soon as the old lady put on her glasses she was delighted to have such good-looking visitors.
“How may I help boys,” the old lady said with a sweet and welcoming tone of voice.
“If you would please heal her,” Yun-seong turned his back and showed Xianghua to the old lady.
“My oh my,” the old lady began, “her sword is quite a rarity. Who did you say she is again?” The old lady forgot that the boys had yet to say her name. But out of politeness the two boys said nothing about it.
“Her name is Xianghua,” Kilik said with a firm and proud voice, “we were both born in Beijing.”
“Oh.” The old lady was more interested in Xianghua’s sword then the words that Kilik said to her. Noticing the old lady’s interest, Kilik stepped in front of the old lady. When the she realised that Kilik meant business, the old lady did not dare quarrel with him.
Feeling trapped by Kilik’s prowess, the old lady invited them in, “Come on in boys, I’ll fix up your girl for you.” Hearing this, Yun-seong and Kilik began to suspicious. So as a result they were on they guard, firmly drawing their hands onto their weapons.

They entered the old lady’s house. “You can call me Danny.” Her house was filled with various potions; to some things looking deadly and to others that looked like if you drank it, it would make you a god.
There were two rooms. Both rooms were empty and as eerie as each other. The left door indicated that it leads to the medical room and the right door lead to the waiting room.
Danny’s house was so clean that Kilik and Yun-seong felt would feel really bad if they had left foot-prints behind. However, their shoes were fairly clean.

Yun-seong and Kilik left Xianghua to Danny, and waited in the opposite room. They sat next to each other on a wooden bench. The air was bitter, yet somehow it was sweet. Yun-seong spotted a small fountain of water that was located at the far corner of the room. He ran towards it. This made Kilik’s head turn with interest. Kilik saw Yun-seong drowning himself with water. As soon as Yun-seong finished Kilik drank from the fountain too.
Afterwards both sat down feeling bloated with relieve. They waited and waited, soon their found relief was gone. And a sudden irritation of gas polluted the atmosphere.
“Argh,” Yun-seong began to get angry.
“I’m sure she’ll finish soon.” Kilik sounded calm.
“I hope so-” Yun-seong stopped at the middle of his sentence.
    “What is the matter?”
“Lets see take a sneak peek at Xianghua in the nude.”
Kilik was quick to blush. And in order to hide his eagerness, he tried to remain emotionless.
    “I’m alright thanks,” replied Kilik.
“Your loss man, I am so like going to see her nude,” Yun-seong’s eyes glittered with delight and fascination. Yun-seong got out of the waiting room. Kilik then assumed that Yun-seong was really going to sneak a peek at Xianghua. So Kilik wanted to stop him as soon as possible.

Yun-seong had his eyes pierced through the key-hole and could see Danny doing something to Xianghua. His eyes told him that she was being healed spiritually. Even though it just looked like as if Danny was singing a bad folk song.
Kilik saw Yun-seong looking through the key-hole. Before Kilik could punish Yun-seong, he was stopped by Yun-seong’s sword.
“Now, now, Kilik. Behave your self. I thought you did not want to see Xianghua in the nude,” Kilik’s face was getting red hot, “relax, Xianghua is not naked. Rather she is laid down on a bed and that old lady Danny is chanting some sort of healing magic.”
Yun-seong lowered his weapon to the floor; inviting Kilik to his side. Kilik looked at Yun-seong. The chanting got louder. So Yun-seong stood up, and pressed his wet ear onto the wall; Kilik followed the same action. They could hear strange words, probably words that were not fully understood. Suddenly the chanting stopped. Yun-seong being closer to the key-hole bent down and saw that Xianghua was fully recovered. He let out a gasp.

Danny and Xianghua were coming towards the door. Yun-seong stood far from the door, leaving Kilik behind. The door opened. It seemed that Xianghua was her old self.
The first person Xianghua encountered upon her recovery was Kilik. “Hello Kilik,” Xianghua said in a sweet tone of voice. But then she realised what this suggested. “Kilik…have you…did you look through the key-hole and see me naked?” Xianghua got red-faced by the thought of it.
“It was-” before Kilik could say that it was Yun-seong that looked into the key-hole Xianghua said,
“If you like me that much, you should’ve said…I’d be glad to show you my good ‘parts’.” Xianghua winked. Kilik fell on the floor whilst his eyes were locked onto hers.
“You better be off kids, otherwise you will get nowhere.”
Both Kilik and Yun-seong began to reach into their pouches for gold. Danny lowered their hands and said,
“This is free. Since you are all so young and high spirited, it made me recall my youth. I’m grateful for that. So you can say its pay in a way.” The boys looked confused. This fused Danny with unbearable laughter.
Danny walked all three out of her house and said goodbye to them.

After that, all three walked further into the horizon. As they looked back, Danny’s house was barely visible.
“Wow, I feel ready to beat the hell out of an ugly looking fiend.” Xianghua went to get her weapon…but it seemed that it was not there.
    “What is the matter?”
    “You alright?” Added Yun-seong.
“No! This cannot be happening. My sword is gone.”
