• Everything began about three years ago. Yet, the beginnings seemed to go much further into the past. Before those three years, everything was simple, life was calm, and the only fighting were in politics. Yes, the people of light and the people of darkness fought for control. These were the rumors that spread. When the time came to three years ago, the land shook. The earth trembled and soon the earth broke. Many cities were separated and many families were as well. The land felt that it would not stop moving for days but soon it did. The land was calm and now no island could see another, each were isolated. After the land had stopped moving, strange creatures began appearing. These creature's entire body was black as the shadows and there eyes menacing. These creatures were peaceful. They attacked and people began to disappear without no explanation. The people fought with swords and magic but its seemed as though the creatures did not feel the steel or the arcane. Two years after the creatures appeared, a legend began to be whispered around. A legend that told of warriors that could fight these creatures.

Zyne awoke late into the morning. He had been dreaming of the night a strange light appeared to him. He didn't know what the light was for but he felt strength in it and a form of comfort. It was a peaceful dream and he always awoke with a smile when he had it.

"Wake up Zyne!!" A friend of his called to him from the front door. The voice belonged to Lyrika. She was an childhood friend of Zyne and was always dragging Zyne off to an adventure.

"I'm up. I'm up" Zyne called back. He sat at the edge of his bed for a second. His eyes wandered around, almost to see if anything was out of normal. The room was not very big. Its width was as wide as his bed and at least he could stand without hitting his head on the ceiling. Strewn on the ground were some clothes. He didn't know if they were clean since he couldn't remember when he took the clothes to the river to be washed. He quickly changed out of his sleeping clothes which were just a T-shirt and shorts into a T-shirt and pants. He stood up and only took about three steps before he reached the door and opened it.

"About time, don't you remember what we're suppose to do today?" Lyrika spoke with a bit of impatient and annoyance.

"Well we first have to do our chores." Zyne responded trying to calm her down with his tone.

"Oh come on you're twenty years old now." Lyrika her hands motioned forward to emphasize what she was saying. It was true. They were both twenty years old now. "We need to enjoy our youth."

Zyne gave in without a fight. Lyrika had been excited about this day for a week already and nothing was going to stop her. "Alright let's go then" Zyne spoke with a defeated voice.

"Onward to the cave." Lyrika pulled Zyne from his room and shut the door behind him. Then proceeded to push Zyne along against his wishes. "Finally, we'll be able to see what is inside that cave."

The two climbed down from the tree house. Their house surveyed the ocean and on the horizon was nothing but water. That was how it was through out the entire island. Nothing could be seen except water. There was a stream that flowed into the ocean and went further into the forest. They followed the stream until they reached a waterfall. Behind the waterfall was the cave.

"Going without me?" A voice spoke just as Zyne and Lyrika were about to go behind the waterfall. The source of the voice came out from behind a tree. It was Lucien. He was among the others that lived in the tree house. "Well you're not going without me. After all, I did wake up extra early to finish all of your chores."

"Well, stop standing and get over here already." Lyrika seemed defeated just as Zyne was before but she seemed a little happy that they had another person to rely on.

"You're going to need this." As Lucien spoke he pulled out a torch from his bag. "Its going to be dark in there. I brought a few extra." He took out two stones and started making sparks with the two. The flame crackled to life as he handed Zyne the torch.

Zyne entered the cave first and the two followed closely behind them. The pathway was quite narrow but enough for them to be able to walk normally. Further ahead they reached an opening. The opening widened out into a very large cavern.

"Whoa" Lyrika was the first to voice her amazement. Her voice echoed in the room. The cavern had many sparkling stones and was very beautiful to see. However, their sight didn't last very long on the stones. They were soon fell on a strange black creature. "What is that?" Lyrika spoke out of instinct. The creature turned to face the three friends. Its eyes were yellow and lifeless. However, it didn't do anything. It just stood there and twitched its body. The twitches were strange. It seemed like the body's image blurred when it did. The shoulder would blur. The foot would blur. Even the head would blur. It all seemed so abnormal and inhuman.

"I think we should leave now" Zyne was concerned. In his mind, he felt that this was now a bad idea and there was something he should be remembering.

"Its......those creatures" Lucien's voice was filled with horror. Zyne then remembered. It was the same creature that took Lucien's little sister. The same creature that caused so much pain and despair.

"We are leaving now!" Zyne spoke with command. The two didn't hesitate and quickly made their way through the narrow passage. Zyne was the last to leave and was able to see that more of the creatures were rising from the ground. As he moved further away, the bodies disappeared into the darkness but the eyes were still piercing.
