    Queen’s POV
Many years ago a prophecy was foretold that a baby would be born to the world; the child was to be extremely powerful and have the mark of a warrior. It would rid the world of darkness and begin a new era of peace between the realms. The baby would be the greatest leader of its time and possess power beyond understanding and comprehension; nothing was to stand in its way.
However, if the baby was to somehow choose darkness over the light, the world would be destroyed and any chance for peace would be lost. The balance of the world would shift greatly and all light would disappear leaving only darkness to rule.
And for centuries the battle between light and darkness has carried on. Many warriors of each side have been lost and many new ones are being trained. Both the light and the darkness have been searching for this mysterious child who with any luck will soon be found before the world is torn limb from limb by the never-ending battle.

For many years now I have seen the shift in power. I have seen the need for change and the only hope of a new beginning slip away time and time again. I have seen lives lost and impacted because of this prophecy. I have seen people destroyed and hurt and maimed. And when I look back on it all I think of whether I, the Queen of the Vampire Realm, was doing enough to stop it. So, as a last resort, because everyone knew we desperately needed him here, I was sending my greatest warrior. He was our last chance to find the child of the prophecy, but I was still hesitant to send him.
We had fought hard without any intention of letting this boy, this warrior, slip away from us. The faeries were keeping a good hold on the woods, the vampires were patrolling around the edge of the kingdom, the shape shifters were searching the human world, the angels took to the sky, and the top warriors were slowly invading the enemy’s territory.
As I sat in my throne room thinking about how this entire war was going to end I began to worry. What if this boy chose their side over ours? How would we know which boy was the one of prophecy? I sat pondering these questions. They were eating away at me slowly, devouring my consciousness when a voice brought me back.
“My Queen, I will be taking my leave now. I don’t intend to be gone long; I know I am needed back here,” said my warrior.
“Very well, I hope you have all the proper equipment, and I assume you will be taking Jack with you?” I asked.
“Yes ma’am I believe he will be able to find the boy that you seek. He is quite a special dog, and I hold him to high standards,” he replied very calmly.
Behind him Jack trotted in, his black and blonde coat glistening in the light. He bowed before me and returned looking at me with clear blue eyes. The dog must’ve been at least four feet tall, from paw to the tip of his ears, on all fours.
“Hello Jack,” I said as I bowed back. “Take good care of Zayne on your quest. The last thing I need is my best warrior to disappear.”
He barked in recognition to my request as they both exited the room.
As long as I could remember they had been together; in fact, I had never seen them apart. They were basically a packaged deal, and I was willing to work with that. They had never given me problems and they were always obedient and loyal. The only problem was I don’t think Zayne had even given a thought to anything but the job. Sure he was loyal and obedient and always ready for action but I felt as though there were something lost inside of him that he had been unwilling to share. He never showed emotion and rarely attached himself to anyone or talked about his family.
