• 6:58am. Sitting on the windowsill, staring at the so called "life" that moves outside. Noah sat silently watching the world take place while the other orphans slept, oblivious of the child being awake. As Noah looked outside, he wondered if he belonged in a so called "society". What would it take to be in a society? How long can it last? Theses thoughts raced through Noah's head as he looked outside. All he ever really wanted was to be a happy child in a society, but with him being an orphan, it would never become true. He would never get accepted by anyone anyway. Besides, the strange voices that ran through his head, it would never get him anywhere. As he continued to think this, he let out a sigh. Noah had been stuck inside of Johnson's Orphanage for a year and a half. How would he possibly get accepted now?

An hour had passed and one of the staff, Mother Maria had entered the room and noticed Noah sitting on the windowsill. With a sigh under her breath she asked: "Noah, have you been sitting here again? You need your sleep, it is best for you, not me". Noah sat silent and continued to stare out the window. "Now Noah, I know that you have to be at least a little bit tired at this time of morning." He shook his head no. Mother walked up to Noah and put her hand on his shoulder. "Come now, I'll make you some break feast".

It was 8:01am, a few orphans had been awake by now, and were eating. Noah as always was eating his favorite oatmeal, Maple Brown Sugar. He had become very fond of the oatmeal and could eat it all of the time. With the exception of nighttime, it never really settled with his poor stomach very well. Noah didn't have many friends in Johnson's Orphanage. In fact, he only had one friend to accompany him, Lewis. These two had become friends the first two weeks that they had met. At 13 years old, he had a bit more experience than Noah. Street-wise and clever, he knew how to get out of sticky situations. To Noah, he was someone to look up to, he was like a brother. Lewis walked up to Noah, and sat down next to him. "So, you just never get tired of eating the Maple Brown Dirt huh?" Noah giggled, making the one and only smile of the day. "So, what you gonna do today? Is this gonna be the big day where you finally find your true family?" Noah's smile almost instantly faded as soon as the word "family" flew out of Lewis's mouth. He noticed this, and then grew quiet. From there, silence filled the room, and everyone looked at the two.

Suddenly, Maple Brown Sugar seemed like nothing to Noah. All that he could think about is the fact that he was a strange child. The strange child that will never belong in a society. His parents abandoned him, why would he have a second chance anyway? Noah got up and walked away from his unfinished break feast.

In Soriya, time went by fast, yet so much would take place in that short time, and it was no different on this day. The afternoon arrived, but it soon withered away into dusk, and dusk into night....
