• And suddenly the sky was there.

Where once was the uniform grey of Mitchel's plastered ceiling there was now a vast expanse of azure dominated entirely by the blazing sun. A wave of heat washed across his skin and he could feel a sense of grittiness in the air as he breathed in. All around him was an endless display of sand and dunes and nothing else; a desert hell beneath the sun's merciless gaze.

Where was this place? How did he get there? Was he dreaming?

A million questions worked their way through Mitchel's head as he stood amid the blistering sands, but he couldn't properly fathom them. He could still remember the cool touch of air from his room's fan, the softness of his bedsheets when he laid upon them earlier that day; but now all he felt was the burning of the sun, as if it too knew he wasn't supposed to be there and was trying to scorch him from existence. He had to move, to find people, to find answers.

Every where he looked, however, was the same. With no distinguishable landmarks Mitchel was at a loss as to which direction to go, but he couldn't stand still beneath the burning rays any longer. Deciding on a point at random, Mitchel took his first unsure step into a new world; a world far greater and more dangerous than he could have ever imagined at the beginning of his journey.
