• "Don't touch the phone...don't touch the phone." Ashley kept muttering under her breath. Her hand began to shake as she picked up and cell phone, but then let the phone slide out of her hand. "If he wants to talk he'll call me!" She wailed as she threw herself into the pillow. Her boyfriend, Jake, had recently decided he needed a "break." Tears slid down Ashley's cheeck as she remebered what happened.
    -flashback-
"Do something!!!!! I hate your friends! Why would you give her my number to prank call me?! I lost my tennis tournament because of her! Why, Jake, why?" Ashley screamed into the phone.
"I didn't know she was going to call you those names. I'm sorry. I will talk to her." He repsonded with no emotion in his voice.
"She's doing this! That girl! That skank, Jazzy! You're letting her tear us apart!"
"No she is not. I just want a break."
    "That's not what I want!"
"You can do whatever you want. It will be for two weeks. You fall in love. You fall out of love. You learn to love again. The end."
"That's not how it works. I'm a year older than you. I've been in more relationships. Love just doesn't die. We've been together for a year and this is how you want it to end?"
    "I'm not ending it-"
    "Yet."
"I just want a break. Then I will decide. Prove to me you love me."
"I L-O-V-E you!" Ashley yelled as she hung up the phone. "There goes my vacation..." she mumbled as tears streamed down her face. She walked back into the Hilton Head beach house. Her family and Dr. Owen's family were already having dinner.
"Hey...is this like a boyfriend-girlfriend thing?" her dad, Dr. Zach Fender, asked.
"Yeah, daddy. It is." Ashley choked out.
"Go on to your room. I'll save you some dessert. Mrs. Owens made an ice cream sandwich tower!" Ashley forced a smile as she walked up the stairs and laid on the bed crying.
    -present-
Ashley was lying on her bed crying just as she was a week ago. "Just one more week...I'd rather him just end it now then go through this pain." she said to her teddy bear as she held it tight. She had done everything to bring back their love. She'd call Jake and leave him voicemails, comment his myspace, show him attention, etc. Montrel, her and Jake's mutual friend, had told her to "give him special attention." But Ashley refused to break down and call him. He had promised her he'd call.
She pulled out her pocket sized diary and begin to write:
    "To Whom This May Concern:
Thanks again for taking away Jake. I really appreciate it. And no, those aren't tear stains on the page. No I'm not crying. No I'm not going crazy. I'm just in love and no one told me about this awful side of love. Thanks for warning me, friend.
    --Bitterly Yours."
Ashley took the book and threw it back on the ground and she began to cry. But then, her phone begin to vibrate! It was...
