• I opened my eyes from a deep slumber and what befell my vision and mind was a beauty one could barely behold.
Towering, majestic trees of evergreen suddenly sprang into view, dappled with bursts of ruby and gold. The maple leaves that studded the ground were also enveloped in autumn’s tones. Aside from the red-to-yellow rainbow, the sky held their own painting of colors blending high and proud. Intense azure followed by bands of lavender amethyst, pink sapphire, and the glow of the setting sun. If one looked long and hard enough into the scene above they would see the faint glimmer of stars and the ever-so distant moon. An aroma of coffee was lavishly welcomed, consisting of vanilla, almond, hazelnut, and mocha perfectly blended together. We continued to drive along the peaceful countryside, soft music wonderfully adding to the enchantment. The trilling woodwinds, melodic brass, and singing strings filled our ears.
Any stress or trouble instantly vanished, replaced by pure happiness and sighs of contentment. But as if on cue to ruin the moment, thunder boomed and rain fell. For quite some time, the great aspects of nature at her best was warped through constant downpour and the glorious sky was now covered with dark gray clouds. Following the current theme portrayed, I contemplated one of the dreadful facts we must face. Death. All of us would die eventually, but all the same it is a bizarre and terrifying subject. Would it hurt? How long would I have until then? I swear that before I die, I would figure out, at least for me, the meaning of life. The meaning of existing. I never could, nor ever will, know the true and complete answer to that.
After awhile, it suddenly struck me. The answer, or at least part of it, was in front of me all along. Life has some good times and some bad but the whole point was to keep going. The gorgeous landscape ahead didn’t just disappear because a little bad weather erupted. Nor should we just give up because something bad happened. We only have one life to live so we should live it to the fullest. Enjoying it. Embracing it. Just accepting it, and knowing that there will be a tomorrow. I smiled when I thought this and as if in response the rain stopped. The clouds moved letting the remaining sunlight through, like a gateway to Heaven. I saw true beauty, and the only word I could think to say was, “Wow.”
