She offers a small smile, and you know it is time, "Don't go," you beg, tears welling in your eyes.
"I have to," she manages to get out through coughs. You frown at her, tears managing to spill on your face.
"No," you demand, holding her hand as tightly as possible, letting go when it turns purple.
"Zach," she warns, reaching up to wipe a tear from your eye.
"Cammie," you mock weakly, she smiles at you.
"It had to end this way," she says, but you both know it didn't. She didn't have to cut, to over use, to lead herself to this.
"I'm going to miss you, Gallagher girl," you whisper, leaning down to plant a kiss on her forehead. Wanting to speak the words never spoken before between you two.
"I'll miss you more, Blackthorne boy," she replies, closing her eyes to accept the kiss. You look at the clock that estimates her time to live.
"2 minutes," you whisper, gulping back the lump in your throat.
"2 minutes," she repeats, as if checking to make sure, you nod, trying not to completely loose it.
"Why?" you ask in your head, seconds later realizing the question was in space.
"It wasn't worth it," she answers, her voice weak and fragile.
"That's a lie, you and I both know that!" you exclaim, forgetting for just a moment the girl you love is dying.
"I'm so sorry," she sobs, bursting into tears, you glance at the clock. 30 seconds.
"It's okay, Cammie," you soothe, "I-" you hesitate, then realize it's all you have left, "love you." The clock reads 2 seconds.
"I love you too," would be her dying words. And as doctors and nurses rush into the room, you realize it's your fault, for not stopping her.
