• The memories flashed through Kurt's mind as he sat in the wooden chair at the back of the classroom. His eyes were glued to the mixing bowl he had in front of him on the desk. The plastic green spoon was being twirled mindlessly between his fingers.

    "Kurt...We're done."

Those words hit him like a knife driving itself into his heart. It literally felt as though Blaine had stabbed him and twisted the knife to finish the job.

Kurt fought back the tears threatening to fall from his blue eyes as he grumpily laid his chin into the palm of his hand; his elbows set onto his cooking table. He couldn't really care less if he got in trouble for not prepping the cookie dough when told to do so. No one could tell Kurt Hummel what to do right now. Through that stubborn skull of his, he had a brain; a brain that told him he needed to have a talk with Blaine.

"Kurt...Have you ever been so in love that you just...hated it?"

Blaine had been over Kurt's house that evening, not able to sit himself down for two minutes to tell Kurt why he was so...happy. The curly haired Warbler even organized all of his lotions and moisturizers according to how pretty they were. Something was going on.

"Hmm...Can't say I have Blaine. Why?"

Blaine was the first boy he had ever really liked who actually liked him back. He knew he couldn't let him go or he would be alone forever. But...something escaped Blaine's mouth at the very next moment that Kurt wished he hadn't heard.
It was almost worse than hearing "Kurt, we're done."

"I'm excited about meeting this guy after I leave your house because he's got this really amazing-"

Kurt stopped him there, his throat tightening. "You're meeting a guy after you finish talking to me?" Kurt's head wasn't being rational about this at all. The only words floating around his mind were 'I can't lose him or I'll be alone'.

"Yes, but Kurt, you don't understand! I'm going to be helping him with his singing! We're performing a duet! He's got such an amazing voice! I hope you don't mind, but him and I will be spending a little extra time together after school...which will mean less time for us, but I promise, there is a good reason for it!" The boy with those large, triangular eyebrows grinned, almost making Kurt smile because he was so adorable. But....He wasn't smiling. Not in the least.

"I think I understand all I want to understand." Kurt folded his arms over his chest, glaring down at the handsome boy who had now seated himself on the couch, whereas Kurt stood by this point.

"Are you mad at me?" Blaine asked, his lips pursing themselves together tightly as he tried to understand his hormonal boyfriend.

"Oh no, Blaine! Why would I be mad at my boyfriend, who is going to see /another/ boy after school everyday? I'm not mad. Are you mad?" The sarcasm seemed to drip off his harsh words, his chest slowly moving up and down as he forced himself not to cry. Crying would only make him seem weaker.

"Baby...Him and I are not dating. Why would I ever cheat on you? You're my boyfriend." Blaine stood and reached out to touch Kurt's cheek, but Kurt stepped back, giving him a glare. Blaine had earned his right to call him baby about a month ago, but right now it was not okay, nor was it soothing in the least. It only stirred the anger in Kurt's mind.

"Is that what I am? Or am I just some afternoon snack before you get to the main course? What? Is it Jeremiah?"

Blaine was slowly losing his calm and cool composure. "Why would it matter to you? If I'm doing something nice for you, don't you think you should be appreciative?" He almost growled out the last part. His teeth ground themselves together, but not in a way it would affect his perfect smile. It just kept him from saying anything crude to his boyfriend, who was obviously on his man period. He didn't even know what Blaine had planned for him!

"Something nice?!" Kurt laughed out loud at his small speech, "How is going around with another man going to make me feel appreciative? Oh, thanks for taking my man off my hands," Kurt acted as though he were talking to the man Blaine was going to be seeing after he left this house, as he said that last line, the apparent jealousy showing in his voice.

"Kurt," Blaine laughed, moving in closer, "You have no idea what's going on between me and him." The warbler attempted to move in and give Kurt a kiss. Kurt, on the other hand, was still infuriated and his mind reacted quicker than he could process what he was going to do.

The porcelain skinned boy brought one of his hands up and whipped it across Blaine's cheek. Hard.

The echo of the slap seemed to last for the next few minutes as Blaine stood there, his mouth dropped open as if he couldn't believe what had just happened. Even Kurt tried to forget what had just happened.

Blaine felt tears well up in his eyes. He didn't yell at Kurt. He hardly even moved besides straightening up his back and shoulders and adjusting his blazer.

"Kurt. We're done," Blaine made it to the door before the tears started pouring down his cheeks and he walked out, leaving Kurt standing there. Kurt wiped at his eyes, trying to stay strong. But...how could he when he just slapped the boy he fell in love with? And now he was gone...

    Present time-

"Hey white boy, snap yourself out of that trance,"

Mercedes had found her way next to Kurt's side as the openly gay boy stumbled through the hallway, not really caring what anyone said today.

"Kurt, what's wrong with you?" She could tell something was up, obviously. Anyone could with the way Kurt looked.

The usually flamboyant kid had on a plain grey t-shirt today and a pair of yesterdays jeans. That meant something was up.

"I don't want to talk about it,"

    "What did Blaine do?!"

Kurt felt his grip tighten on the books he was holding, but he didn't dare go off on Mercedes. After all, that's how he lost his relationship with Blaine; by going off on him for nothing. Well. Maybe. He was going to hang out with another boy instead of Kurt. Kurt and him didn't hang out enough as it was. Now he wanted to spend even less time with him?

    "He didn't do anything. Really."

Mercedes stepped in front of Kurt so he would have to stop as she did.

"Uh-uh. I know something is up. You smell like dumpster and old clothes."

Kurt groaned and stepped around her, "That would be because I got thrown in the dumpster. And I'm wearing clothes from yesterday."

Mercedes continued to pursue him, but he just ignored her and walked into Glee club, taking his seat at the very back as his pursuer went to talk to Rachel, who looked back at him curiously.

Great. Now the whole school was going to be talking about him.

Mr. Schuester gave everyone a warm smile as he entered the room, his eyes locked onto Kurt's. Apparently he could tell that Kurt was upset too. Was it that obvious? How did they know? His clothes?

"Well...You all know what to do. You're all welcome to go into the hallway and practice your duets with your partner."

Kurt immediately stood and walked out of the classroom, feeling as though he were about to implode. His mind was mush, his words were failed attempts at speaking and his fingers continued to shake.

Finn walked up to him, giving him a nervous smile. "So. This is our second duet together. Kind of awkward. Seen as how we're brothers and everything."

"Step," Kurt corrected, "Step brothers. And it doesn't have to be a god damned love song, Finn. Pick a song that you want to sing and I'll go along with it. I have to go to the bathroom."

The angry boy stepped away from Finn and hurried around the corner...just to get away from all the people he didn't want to talk to.

Kurt found himself just walking down the hall, past the bathroom, past the next couple of hallways and to the bathroom at the very end of the school. He just wanted to get away from all of this nonsense.

"Why did Blaine have to...Ugh," He gave an agitated groan as he leaned over to take a drink from the water fountain.

As soon as the water hit his rough, dry lips, he felt a hand rip him away from the fountain and throw him up against the wall.

"Yo f**," Azimio commented, giving Kurt a look up and down.

"Get lost." It was the best thing Kurt's broken mind could come up with at the moment. It sure got Azimio worked up.

He shot a fist to Kurt's stomach, causing him to double over and cough repeatedly.

"Azimio, you're killing homo without me?" Dave.

Kurt picked himself back up and as soon as he did, he heard soft singing. His eyes looked around, wondering who was busy singing while he was getting attacked.

    "This romeo is bleeding
But you can't see his blood
    It's nothing but some feelings
That this old dog kicked up

It's been raining since you left me-"

Blaine had emerged from behind the corner, along with several other Warblers, but Blaine's song came to a quick end as he saw both of the bigger guys surrounding Kurt. His nose twitched slightly as he tried to calm himself down. Just the sight of them both sickened him.

"I suggest you go back to your classroom. Now,"

Azimio laughed a little, but instantly shut up as Wes and Nick stepped forward to back up their lead Warbler.

Knowing neither one stood a chance, they turned and walked away, unhappy they couldn't finish their job.

Kurt slid down the wall behind him, burying his face into his knees as he started bawling, thankful Blaine had showed up when he did. If he hadn't, Kurt would probably be laying there...dead.

Blaine automatically ran up to the boy to comfort him, dropping to his knees and wrapping his muscular arms around the slender boy's neck.
He pressed quick kisses to his uncombed hair, making his cries die down to barely a whimper.

The other Warbler's watched uncomfortably, not liking the awkwardness of it all. Whenever Kurt cried, they could almost feel the sorrow he was feeling. It was horrible.

"Kurt....Are you okay?" Blaine asked, tucking Kurt's hair behind his ear, his fingers continually running through his soft locks.

"What are you doing here?" He sniffled, wiping at his eyes. "I thought we were done."

The curly haired boy finished rubbing the tears out of Kurt's eyes, then licked his own lips as he thought about how he was going to answer.

"I should have just came out and told you what I was planning to do with the guy that I was going to spend time with. But I really wanted it to be a surprise...So I kept it hidden.
I know your birthday is in a couple of weeks and I was hoping to get this guy to set up a big party for you. I was going to sing to you and stuff...but then you blew up on me and freaked me out. I didn't want to yell at you because I know how easily your feelings get hurt. By the way, you slap really hard..."

Kurt found himself sobbing into Blaine's shoulder again as the curly haired boy attempted to comfort him with gentle pats to his back.
"You are the most amazing boyfriend ever. Why would I want to hang out with a thirty five year old man over someone like you?" He asked, pulling back and giving Kurt a little wink.

Kurt, now smiling through the tears, took Blaine's hand as it was offered and was pulled up to his feet.

"Kurt Hummel, please allow me to be your boyfriend again," He said softly, giving Kurt a smile.

Kurt nodded eagerly, moving the hair from his eyes so he could see Blaine's brown ones. They looked even more beautiful when the Warbler grinned.

Wes and Nick moved back into the group of Warblers as they began humming the song Blaine had previously been singing before he saw Kurt pinned up against the wall.

Holding his hand as they walked down the hallway, Blaine sang loudly:

    "This romeo is bleeding
But you can't see his blood
    It's nothing but some feelings
That this old dog kicked up

It's been raining since you left me
Now I'm drowning in the flood
You see I've always been a fighter
But without you I give up

    Now I can't sing a love song
Like the way it's meant to be
Well, I guess I'm not that good anymore
    But baby, that's just me

Yeah I will love you, baby
    Always and I'll be there
    Forever and a day, always

I'll be there, till the stars don't shine
Till the Heavens burst and the words don't rhyme
I know when I die you'll be on my mind
    And I'll love you, always

Now your pictures that you left behind
Are just memories of a different life
Some that made us laugh, some that made us cry
One that made you have to say goodbye

What I'd give to run my fingers through your hair
Touch your lips to hold you near
When you say your prayers, try to understand
    I've made mistakes, I'm just a man

When he holds you close, when he pulls you near
    When he says the words
You've been needing to hear, I'll wish I was him
'Cause these words are mine, to say to you till the end of time

And I will love you, baby
    Always and I'll be there
    Forever and a day, always

If you told me to cry for you, I could
If you told me to die for you, I would
Take a look at my face, there's no price I won't pay
To say these words to you

Well, there ain't no luck in these loaded dice
But baby, if you give me just one more try
We can pack up our old dreams, and our old lives
We'll find a place, where the sun still shines

Yeah I will love you, baby
    Always and I'll be there
    Forever and a day, always

I'll be there, till the stars don't shine
Till the Heavens burst and the words don't rhyme
I know when I die you'll be on my mind
    And I'll love you, always."

Blaine paused when the song came to a close. Both of them were back at Glee club, where everyone was watching them with eager eyes.

Blaine leaned forward and pressed a passionate kiss against Kurt's mouth, causing them both to smile against each others lips. Neither Kurt nor Blaine wanted to ever forget what this kiss tasted like...

    "I love you baby..."
