The Pathway

Gazing into the night,
I see a path.
A path that would lead me to a dream I've always wanted.
An unreal dream.
It could never happen, and yet it was.
And I wouldn't be able to stop it.
All I could do was follow it.
No matter where it took me,
I would follow.
It would call out my name,
And I would come.
But why?
Why would I have to follow?
Why was it real?
Why couldn't I go?
Why?
Because it was me,
And I cannot escape myself.
