• I broke my mirror the other day,
As a punishment for its lies.
The ones it spouts out everyday,
So many they'd fill up the skies.

Into the trash I threw the glass
As for the frame, I left it there.
All the lies, though in the past,
    The truth will never compare.

    I started over yesterday...
With everything new, nothing the same.
That's when you saw me that day in May
That's when you called out my name.

I turned around to find you,
But you ignored me, ducked away.
Though embarrassed you were, it's true,
    My resolve you made decay.

    I wanted to be heard.
    I wanted to be seen.
In my mind I was a bird.
In my mind I was a queen.

    So two weeks passed...
The glass in my mirror renewed.
I'd rather be lied to first and last
Than sit around waiting for you.
