Butterfly
By: Matthew Draft
Dance and flutter butterfly,
only to get trapped in her web.
She strangles and devours butterfly,
and the butterfly never had a chance.
Stories such as these,
bring me such glee,
to see common beauty destroyed,
it is sad, in its own cute way.
I like to sit back and watch the drama play out,
I enjoy looking at your world burn,
Call me wrong but I told you not to play with matches,
and now that your life is smoldering I can't help but smile.
So you dance and flutter like said butterfly,
But only to be prey for a mother,
Her children you feed there for you must die,
To spare the children from suffer.
In metaphor you are nothing but this fool,
And in the end she is not being very cruel,
When I say "I told you so" it is not like I meant it in spite,
However you should know about these things I tend to be right,
So stand up and dance just One More Time,
and don't miss those same steps,
I swear if you make this mistake One More Time,
I don't think life can be forgiving
not to you

- Very unique stories and images - I think it could use a tad bit of editing in a couple places, but overall you used some good, creative metaphors. Nicely done.

- In some parts of the poem you sort of strayed off a little but I got the overall message. Very interesting and I also like the fact that there was a story going on as well.
