• Friend in my Pocket

This is a story known by few,
Somethin’ that could happen to you.
At fault, maybe a rumor untrue,
Or the girl’s realization, far overdue?

    Oh my,
Did this girl's thought train go awry,
After she met some new guy?
    Somehow made her heart fly.
Soon hanging out, creating a bond, a tie.

When together, a friend told her a lie,
Her friend had a grudge that wouldn’t die.
So was the first reason that did underlie,
The pain of questioning ending with a sigh.
But that’s all history, and by the by,
    Suddenly both standing in tongue-tie,
    Wondering who would say good-bye.

And so, that’s how it seemingly ends.
In a way that only life intends.
Most things break, but this only bends.
One year later, strictly best friends.

Well, sadly, she’s still in love.
Her head lost in heavens above.
Focused and dreaming of him and doves.
Someone, please slap her face with a glove!

Now she knows long gone is her chance.
Maybe she can get her life to advance.
To check, she chances a simple side glance…
And , yes! Free of her hypnotic trance!

She’s thrilled to give her new friend advice.
Because, to her, he was social and nice.
    That beyond fits her price,
She who once had a heart of ice.

Currently are friends by the phone,
    Their friendship best mostly unknown.
Now neither can be sad nor alone,
Once their cell rings its comforting tone.

Friend in my Pocket, that’s who he is.
He is mine, and I am his.

    Thank You For Reading!
