• The robin, brown suit & red carnation in his breast pocket,
Strikes up the first note for a chorus of caws.
A single tune that heralds spring’s return.
From his right a blue jay shrieks, a harsh noise to the listener’s ear.
Dressed smartly in the shades of sapphires & ocean waves,
Skin around his eyes an unearthly white.
Crow, in a midnight ebony display, lets out a note that overpowers Jay.
Silence now, silence from the chorus.
And then picked up once more for the finale.
The crane’s wailing cry begins the final verse.
Then Robin & Jay, Crow & Crane
    Await the final key note.
    King Eagle’s boastful voice
Booms over all & finishes the song,
    Silence overtaking once more.
