Darkness sweeps the world clean
enveloping the light.
The light appears to shrink
as day turns into night.
The sunlight on the meadow
which makes the world green
Turns the happiness to fear
and woodland creaturs into fiends.
A slow, but steady lantern
waves alone through the fog
Lets out a slow, fading light
that really lessens up the grog
The lantern grows brighter
as its owner climbs the slope
The figure continues on
walking with confidence, faith, and hope.
As the silouette reaches the climax,
a small cottage at the peak,
it stumbles to the front door
its stature appears weak.
The nighttime's dark
seems to suffocate the earth
and rain that's about to come
seems to spell rebirth.
The figure, an elderly man,
sets himself upon the front rail
The front door opens
and a child walks out, looking small and frail.
She walks out with a match
and strikes it on the side.
The elder stranger hears
and he attempts to hide.
The miniscule child calls a greeting,
an unheard hello.
The elder has vanished;
where he is, no one knows,
but as he twists around
to see if he's been tailed,
he views a small, insignificant spark
it's purpose did not fail.
The small flame in the darkness
or the child to the man,
Everybody has a purpose
and everybody has a fan.
A small grain of sand
to the largest mountain in the world
Everybody and everything is significant,
even if purpose is not unfurled.

Description:
A story I wrote in the form of a poem. Kind of cheesy, but I was happy with the symbolism....just my opinion, I guess. What do you think? Please comment- I wish to improve me writing in all ways!!
**I know the rhyming is cheesy as well, but this was written when I still thought rhymes were necessary in a poem :)** - Date: 10/28/2008
