On My Own

Why can't I just seem to say,
The perfect words to make you stay?
Why can't I just seem to know,
Why you're leaving me alone?

You're gone away but you're still right here...
Wedged deep in my chest, a rusted spear.
What have I done to deserve this?
I've found only pain where there should be bliss...

Now you're gone, and I don't know why...
Somehow our lives just went awry...
Now I sit and stare into the sky,
And to the Moon I cry out "WHY?"

I get no answer, to no surprise,
It just illuminates my drying eyes.
You're gone from me, I'll never be the same,
Only time and solitude will heal this pain.

Now here I stand, out here alone.
I'm learning to function on my own.
I can't recover in just one day,
But given time, I'll find a way...

You write well, I really like the emotion in this. It's got that DH-style to it that makes your works memorable. ^_^
