‘While they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.’ Luke 2: 6-7
Take a drive to the corner
And what will you see?
A multi-million dollar home
That is lit with Christmas lights on all sides
Take a look through the window
And what will you see?
A Christmas tree with presents
Presents that were sure to cost a fortune
Take a glance at the little son
And what will you see?
A child who can’t sleep
Full of impatience to open those presents
“My child, My child,
Don’t you see the folly of your ways?
My child, My child,
Don’t you see something is missing in the picture?
My child, My child,
Don’t you see the world has changed?
My child, My child,
Don’t you see how forgotten I am?”
Take a walk downtown
And what will you see?
Two contrasting lifestyles
The rich and the poor, those with money, and those without
Take a walk through the mall
And what will you see?
Everywhere are people
People buying useless, thousand dollar presents
Take a walk outside that mall
And what will you see?
Beggars on the street
Beggars asking for enough money just to get by
“My child, My child,
Why do you give everything to those with everything?
My child, My child,
Why do you give nothing to those with nothing?
My child, My child,
Why has this holiday become so superficial?
My child, My child,
Why has this holiday’s true meaning become hidden?”
Take a step back in time
And what will you see?
A tiny babe in a manger
A manger surrounded by animals on all sides
Take a step around the corner
And what will you see?
Shepherds on their way
To worship the tiny, helpless, babe
Take a step to the open plain
And what will you see?
Angels singing loudly,
“Glory to God in the highest! Peace on Earth!”
“My child, My child,
Don’t you see My Son came to save you?
My child, My child,
Don’t you see He is worthy of all praise?
My child, My child,
Don’t you want to join the angels?
My child, My child,
Don’t you see the real meaning of Christmas?”
“My child, My child,
Why won’t you acknowledge Me?
My child, My child,
Why do you ignore all the evidence towards Me?
My child, My child,
Why don’t you realize all you need to do is reach out?
My child, My child,
Why don’t you reach out, and I will carry you?”
“My child, My child,
Let me hold you in My arms of love
And you will never be alone again
And I will never let you go.”

- Description: We watched 'The Grinch that stold Christmas' in class yesterday(we're in a christmas unit) and it got me thinking. The grinch had a complete wrong view of christmas. To him, it was all about presents, food, and stuff. But to the Whos it was about family and community. It got me thinking how wrong most people's view of christmas is today. Christ has been completely taken out and replaced with stuff.

- I really like your poem. Screw you, Andrew Hyuga. Doesn't anybody get that being a pain to Christians isn't doing anything? We never bash you openly for being a pagan! So back off!
