I stand in the prow and look out across the endless sea.
I search and scout, scour and squint.
But I still see no sign.
The glassy surface reflects all it sees,
All save me.
I am alone it seems, no albatross to wear or to keep me company.
The brine washes over still open wounds in the fool whose reflection cannot be seen.
I wait for the moonless night for then my ship stands in a sea of oil.
I watch the blackness seeing none but a mask,
A mask I've worn for what seems an eternity.

- Nice, I could tell right away what the reference was, but you didn't hit me over the head with it. Good balance of influence and originality.
