What starts as a second, simple, ignored
turns into a moment, so gentle and moored
Then its something you keep to your heart
And becomes a part of you like paper and art
And you wonder to yourself with curiosity
How a second turned into a beautiful memory
Whether joyous, miserable, or unforseen
Throbbing, blissful, or simply mean
Memories are our tiny gifts
Meant to share and our spirits they shift
Together we can feel for the lost
The content, the livid, with hearts of frost
The impossible is overlooked
No matter our efforts our memories are hooked
Run Away, Escape, the treachery within
but it will chase you back, and rob you of your grin
A secret is a personal treasure,
Meant for you no matter the measure
A memory is a story waiting to be told
Not to entertain, but worth more than gold
Avoiding memories to avoid the pain
Ends the knowledge that we gain
A memory that is kept is the weight of the world
Balanced on a shoulder and heavy with morals
After a memory is let go to the open
It is but a part of you and kept as a token
Then it is a moment, so serene, and engrossing
And finally it is but a second, swift and arousing.
