• Tears are not welcome here
    But yet they invade
    They spill
Over the barricades of my lashes
    They march down cheeks
    Leaving trails
    Of salty destruction
    In their wake

    Some
    Call them healers
    Cleansers
    But I
    Call them enemies
    Provoked by nothing
    And everything
    They take over the senses
    Conquer
    All other emotions

    They march on
    Despite cries of “Surrender!”
    “No more!”
Battling their way to the surface
    Uncontrollably
    They come
Marching ‘till there are none left
    Leaving unseen scars
    Because I
    Bleed tears
    Instead
    Of blood
