• What can you do on a hot summer day?
When the sun seems to burn the very air,
While the water evaporates from the bay,
With streams of sunlight, very hard to bare.

All you can do is to try to cool down,
And try to find as much shade as possible.
Another day in the dry, brown town,
As you try to find green grass, impossible.

Sitting in the sprinkler to try to find some chill,
Startled as a water balloon hits your arm,
Singing, almost, the water giving you a thrill,
Smothering some thoughts of the sun that causes harm.

Looking all around to see that the shade has moved,
Like a newborn kitten crawling away from his bed.
Licking your dry lips while watching you proved,
Little by little the sun does pass by overhead.

Through the long day the sun won all battles,
Trying to keep all the nice clouds away,
The night can only win against such powers,
The hot summers day ends as the sun goes at bay.
