• The people in the paintings always stand so still
I wonder what keeps them from moving?
Are they terrified of moving because it makes them real?
    Or are they just lazy?
With the landscape stretched before them,
    so ample and vast,
do they ever need a change of scenery?
I pity those in awkward poses
Their features show no pain however
It's as if they couldn't feel
Do they ever get tired of holding their place?
I bet they jump and stretch when I’m not looking.
If I stood still would nothing ever change?
And maybe I’d try to run when Change wasn’t looking.
I wonder if the people ever feel trapped within their four corners?
Or are they more free, knowing only their role and how to achieve it.
I wonder what happens when the paint fades away
    And only its memory exists
Does becoming a memory then make them real?
Or do they ever have any chance to be so?
The people in the paintings always stand so still
Or maybe that’s just the way I see it.
