I long for you when I'm away,
At work, at home, in night or day.
I want to see you one more time,
To be exposed to you, sublime.
I spend long hours thinking of you,
And all the things you've made me do.
You are all I want to hold,
Whether you feel warm, or cold.
I dream of feeling your curves, so smooth,
And lifting you to me, your memory soothes.
I'll kiss you again on your lips and be
Refreshed by the breath you breathe into me.
I could spend all day wiping sweat from your neck,
As you keep me from becoming a useless wreck.
Solely your existence has given me meaning,
You spend time with me, whenever I'm needing.
I'll sit down again with you before me now,
And wonder why, and wonder how,
My hand is wrapped around your throat,
You feel so cold, is this what I've wrote?
You are, forever, far away or near,
My true love, my bottle of beer.

- Title: A Lonely Man's Love Letter
- Artist: Inyro Gatling
-
Description:
I wrote this piece a year ago, on Valentine's Day. My inspiration was wondering to whom a lonely, drunkard man would write a love letter to, if anyone. Would it be the bartender? The girl who comes by every so often for a drink after work?
This poem is the culmination of all my thinking; I hope you all enjoy. - Date: 02/24/2009
