• Under a scarlet blanket
    Her serene dreams frolic
    Beneath her, all stand silent
    Solemn, calm, and stoic

    Slowly she rises from sleep
    A single ray shoots out
    Bathe the anxious world below
    Hear the waking leaves shout

    As the famous opera starts,
    She lets fiery drapes drop
    Free from all hindrances
    Bound never to stop

    Her warm, abandoned tails change
    See her true beauty shine
    Dancing across open skies
She steals this heart of mine

    Gaze at her magnificence
    Humble, she hides her face
The earth calls for her love
    To capture her wondrous grace

    Puffy accents for edges,
She turns this way and that
    Pose for us, the audience
    Let our envy grow fat

    As time moves ever forward
    She struts along the path
    All can appreciate her
    Untouched by her hot wrath

    Dubious not of our ways
    Daunted not by distance
Before long she sees her home
    No path of least resistance

    Her lace begins to color
Red, orange, and is that blue?
    She pirouettes to a close
Every bow gives a new hue

    Leaves rustle restless farewells
    They, too, turn brilliant shades
The sky shimmers one last time
    As the waning light fades

    Observe her curtains pulled down
    The glow sinks ever low
    We know she smiles somewhere
    Dancing a vibrant show

In her wake the darkness shines
    Creatures too shy for light
Move about on their cold earth
    Searching with all their might

If only to find one small scrap
    Anything to reveal
What it is they always miss
    Is this myth even real?

    Turning from wonders unknown
    Ignoring what can’t be
They watch the moon dance at night
Is that all they can see?

    Those borne of ebony clouds
Know not what they settle for
    A second best performance
How could they wish for more?

    Just open you eyes wider
    Take a good look around
What beauty do you pass by?
Are you listening for what hasn’t sound?
