• Sweetly Dream

    The enchantress, she waits,
    And watches with eyes of burnt umber
    As her charge writhes with the turmoil
    Of superfluous lies and deception
    Through long locks of raven hair.

    “Sweetly dream upon the shore.” says she,
    “Close thine eyes and see.
    For dreams allow thee, ardent Prince, to
    Float on clouds forevermore.

    “Dost thou dream of monsters foul,
    Poisons aplenty and demons rife?
    Heinous Belladonna hath sounded her Angel's Trumpet,
    And war erupts from the depths of Hades
    Such as none have seen before.
    But...
    Think not of such things, Revered One;
    Let not your soundness fall.
    For at a lover's touch
    Even enigmatic phantasms have no regency.

    “Perchance thou dream'st of maiden fair,
    True love close, yet far away.
    And the maiden stands a-waiting,
    Evermore her eyes aglow
    With pure love and adoration,
    Hidden amongst an impassioned storm.

    “But for now, dearest one,
    Whilst you dream upon the shore,
    This fair maiden shall stand a-waiting
    As protect'rate by thine side forevermore.
    Think not of monsters foul, my Prince,
    Nor of demons rife -
    Let not your soundness fall.

    ”For whence comes love,
    Lies and deception are led astray;
    They bask in the shadows -
    Antagonized by the light.
    Naught makes a man, mine charge,
    From sinful affairs.
    Hold close to thine innocence;
    Allow love to spread thine wings,
    Lay serene upon the sands, Prince,
    And sweetly dream,
    Sweetly dream.”
