Like Adam reaching for the apple,
I shouldn’t have been tempted by the forbidden fruit.
Yet I sit with an empty plate,
Waiting for the first serving.
Serpent tells me what to do,
Dare I use my proper head?
I think with loins of burning desire,
But my thirst quenches it like a glass of ice.
Nothing is as pure as the first touch,
Like caressing virgin snow.
Like autumn leaves fall upon the ground,
A lonely branch left behind.
But as I gaze at the fruit,
I look upon the mirror like eyes.
And I feel the warmth of my blood,
Pumping through their veins.
