they come not from heaven but from hell below
to a disobedient rebel of a child
that wants no part of being prince above
where neither rebel nor sinner have want to go
but he wants to run where life is mostly wild
where he is free to be but has that love
that lasts though devils make him but a pet
according to their arrogance and pride
not knowing whether it’s him or them
that take the other for a walk and yet
he knows full well the folks of hell abide
with doors destroyed by God in Bethlehem
but demons could be free, if they but would
and devils would if it were but true they could.
