• I have no profound statements to say
    or groundbreaking, startling words.
No lyric or poem or story that may
turn the world around on its heels.

    Only an observation, I've seen
    in teenage lyrics and poems
that all involve violence or love or despair,
    and none about comforting homes.

Where is our world today to find
that things aren't as bad as they seem?
Why can't we see the brighter sunrise beyond
the forest so darkened with trees?

So live, and love—and do it again—
but never let go of your smile.
Through trials and hardtimes may good thoughts within
    always triumph over your struggles.

The sun always rises after the darkest of night,
you just have to be there to see it.
