I am a cold, black lump of charcoal.
I am easily lit by matches if I’m provoked
And I am okay with that
I am like an organization of people
Set out on destiny
To destroy the world in flame
I am caked with lighter fluid
And old remains,
Not really much more complicated than that.
I’m put in a bag to hide my feelings,
Even when they matter.
But have people ever seen those beautiful sketches
That say the medium is charcoal?
That’s what I am. I am that piece of charcoal
That was destined to make one beautiful masterpiece
While I stay in this world.

Description:
This is a writing piece I wrote for 9th Grade English this year.
Personally, it's one of my favorites. It was supposed to be comparing yourself to something, with metaphors and similies all over the place.
I think I did pretty well, and this was my teacher's favorite poem out of them all. - Date: 06/07/2009
