• The frosty fur glistened in the moonlight and reflected it
As if a mirror were sewn onto the wolf’s pelt.
It howls, breaking the golden silence.
It waits, sitting very still, as though it were a tree.
A howl called back from a place not far.
The wolf’s eyes twinkled like a star of bliss
And started up the hill covered by a white blanket,
Persevering the snow falling heavily from the sky,
Though it felt nothing but warmth.

    Finally, it encountered its mate.
Oh, joy filled within the alpha male, fast as lightning,
Reaching higher than what god can see.
They showed affection for each other,
And then started yet again to find some food.
They roamed quietly around the area in the blizzard,
Hoping to find a kangaroo bouncing by.
The two made not a sound as though they were both mimes.

Then, happiness surged in both. They found a kangaroo and its baby.
The kangaroos were sparkling like stars to the wolves’ eyes.
They slowly stalked the kangaroos, tiptoeing like a child trying to sneak into a room.
The alpha female then leaped towards the kangaroo,
But it didn’t make it, only halfway, as though a train had stopped between two stations.
A man had seen the wolves and took out his shotgun.
The blood oozed out, staining the snow like juice spilled all over a carpeted floor.
    The alpha male felt heartbroken,
Feeling pain in his heart, as though he had lost half of it.
A scar on the heart of the alpha male forever.
