• A Dance in the Moonlight

    Under the moonlight
    I said we should meet
    A place away from sight
But not far from the street

I sat waiting under the tidy little tree
    Counting the few stars
Until you would come to me

Finally, you arrived at a quarter past ten
I ushered you to the stone seat
    So the music could begin
And so I could show you my secret suprise treat

I started twirling in a trance
And moved to the beautiful tune
Tonight I have brought you a meaningful dance
Only seen under the silver moon

Before I was done, it started to rain
I slipped and fell right in front of you!
    My joy would quickly drain

I thought now that your love was a far away chance
But you picked me right up
    And we started to dance

All too soon, it was time to go
You said you would wait till another night
    To see another wonderful show
Now I could see that the future was bright

    Another day came
And I saw you with another girl
My madness could not be tamed
    My emotions in a whirl

    Anger turned to sorrow
And I wished you would hear my plea
    I keep thinking, tomorrow, tomorrow
You will come back to me

    Only in my dreams
Do I see you and me
    You hold me so close
    and kiss me so softly

    I passed you a note
And I hope you will read
I hope you will take to heart what I wrote
And one day I hope you'll hear my plea:

    "Join me in the moonlight
    Join me in the rain
Please, just take my hand and help me
    Dance away the pain."
