We must walk quietly
Along this frozen path
For giants slumber
All around us
Hush now, don’t make a sound
They eat your breath, and now
You see it’s become visible
In the stilled air
Quickly now, child, quickly
See how they stir slightly
As Father Winter howls in their
Ears?
They shake off their white coats
Attempting to rouse from their drowsy spell
Run, child, run away!
Hurry now, before they catch you
But quietly because, look, you see?
They’ve already started to fall
Back asleep.

Description:
I wrote this for my Creative Writing class last year. It got good marks there, so I'm hoping the same will happen here.
Also, the giants are trees. . . just to clear that up for anyone who might get confused. - Date: 08/27/2009
