• We Survived
When someone has gone through a life of hell,
    A life of abuse that consisted of so many unspeakable things;
    We lived through it
    We learned to deal
    We escaped it
    We learned to heal
    We brought ourselves to be
    We found our peace
    We can say “I’m me”
    We continue to fight
    We stand strong
    We do not take flight
    We struggle with the wrong
    We make our lives right
Yet they say we cannot feel
But wait, we learned to heal
    We can see and hear
    We can sing and feel
We no longer hide in shame
    Yes, we can also love
No, we are not to blame
    Now when pushed, we shove.
So next time you see us, remember we are strong, we have feelings, we can hear you, we can see, and we can love. We have fought to make it through; we fought to live, and we do know life, as we know death. Our hearts are whole and we are strong; all we ask is for is someone who loves us and treats as they would anyone. We do not want pity, “I’m sorry” or that “what do I say” stuff. We are human, we are healed, we are strong, and most of all - we are real. We know what love is and we know how things should be.
Hey, we lived through it and survived
