• I reach my hands out for help
    Poverty covers the world
Such a thick and heavy blanket.

    Poverty feeds into my hunger
    But leaves my stomach empty.
I reach my hands out for help
And they remain just the same.

    Poverty gives no shelter
    No protection from nature’s wrath
It leaves my skin infected and bare
I reach my hands out for help
And they remain just the same.

    Poverty gives little opportunity.
    Little money to earn
    My dreams to be unfulfilled.
No chance to learn my mind but blank.
I reach my hands out for help
And they remain just the same.

    Poverty shows no mercy
And man is just as cruel
    Ability to give
    But action not taken
    Hear the weeping
    No remorse to see
    See the facts
Blind to the pain and suffering we endure.
I reach my hands out for help
And I’ll continue to reach out
And fight for my life as long as I can.

    Poverty has lead me
    Lead me to deaths door.
Barely alive, more dead than so.
    Finally someone heard my cry
They’ll give me a chance, a home, some food.
I reached my hands up for help
    And it finally came.
    But…
I am but one of my many brothers and sisters
    All around the world.
And they reach their hands up for help just the same.

    Poverty is always there
    And so shall I be
To take that hand of my fellow man
And help a man in need.
