• There was a quiet time,
    a peaceful time
    full of warmth,
    The scent of
    Bread
    Baked fresh from
    the oven
    The smell of
    Hope
    of things yet to
    come
    There was joy then
    Happiness
    dreams of a future
    Memories
    long past
    You were happy.
    But now
    Things have changed
    The robin no longer
    Sings
    Outside my window
    and the sun does not
    Rise
    above the clouds of
    Fear
    Loss
    The wind is stiff
    unrelenting
    it strikes against us
    our faces
    Driving us back
    into
    the shelter of our
    Hearts
    Wary of the
    pain
    that knocks upon the
    door.

    Now there is no
    quiet
    The world holds no
    peace
    As we hide from one
    another
    Fearing what we
    will say
    What we
    must say.
    We hide our hearts
    and in our hearts
    we hide.
    Waiting.
    Watching.
    for a brighter day
    to come.
