Smiles
Even from here i can see
Your classic head-on grin
Eyes squeezing shut into
Thin lines as you laugh
And then theres the cryptic one,
The kind that resonates against
The chasm of my wandering mind;
A half-smile, quietly understanding
Showing full confidence and acceptance
The smile that you use only
When youre acting a little silly
And everyone is laughing-
Where you close those brown eyes
And let loose with your joy
Sending a stream of happiness
Into the wide world
The rarest kind is at the conclusion
Of a precise phrase you know is right
You radiate confidence, but the power
Of that smile is in the expression,
Brimming with hope and assurance
Even from this long distance away,
Your smiles assure me it will be alright
I look forward to each new day
Because i know youll be there
And ill see you smile

Description:
I wrote this quite a while ago, but I still think it's one of my better pieces. It's acctually not targeted at a crush; just at a wonderful guy a few years ahead of me. He's a beautiful person. He smiled so often, and it was always very sincere. I wish I'd taken the time to get to know him better
I don't write poetry seriously anymore (switched to bad novels), but I'm always looking to improve. - Date: 11/21/2011
