So Close, but So Far

• Description: I wrote this poem because I know that there are people stuck in situations like this. I know because I'm one of them. I can't easily explain how much it hurts to those who don't know. If you're one of the people who doesn't, then maybe this poem will give you clarity. Maybe that friend you've always had feels like this. In any case, I hope you enjoyed the poem.

The world sees two friends,
happy as can be.
But certain things in life,
we cannot clearly see.

She sees him like a brother,
a guy who's always around.
Someone there to help her,
and lift her off the ground.

But what he sees is pain,
in her face and in her eyes.
And in the dark of night,
he sits alone and cries.

He can't confess his love,
for his chance has long since passed.
And if he tried to tell her,
their friendship wouldn't last.

So close, but so far,
these two are seen each day.
Still his heart keeps breaking,
painfully locked away.
